'76 Turbo on BAT

Seller never mentions (and peanut gallery hasn't noticed, apparently) that this pretty, shiny 930 has some serious rust issues.

See pics #151 and 152.

See pic 152, looks like rust on the pan. You can see it on this pic also, look past the overspray.

That's all undercoating in that picture. Cars usually rust under the undercoating not on top of it ;-)

Seriously, looks solid to me....doesn't help that the overspray is rust colored. I've owned 6 early 930's and they were all drivers and looked similar underneath.

It's hard to tell what it is, but the seller sure didn't go out of his way to take clear pix of the underside of the car. And since it's a 76, it's not galvanized.

But in this market, none of that matters!

All 911's were galvanized by the 1976 model year...although we all know that's no guarantee.

Reminds me of a memory, not all good. Is a 73' galvanized? Exactly 20 years ago brought back an RS #101 to CA and had the motor/car mechanically sweet done up. Prior to taking it to a Porsche show in Ventura, I had some body work done at European Classics (don't remember exactly the name but in Costa Mesa). There was a small bubble under driver's door on the sill. They quoted me $500 and blasted it and filled it. When I picked it up there was the same over spray. I say WTF is this?? This is a 73 RS!! I got a hundred dollars rebate and went to the show in Ventura.

At the show I was approach by one of their customers who offered me 35K and it was listed @ 78K. He say -- it takes that much to get it there blah blah. I said politely in so many words GFYS! Days later the car was sold to AUS @70K. Got a call from the guy after. When he learned that he just said -- welI I'll be damned...

Those were the days when you could buy or sell a 73 RS for 100K or less, exactly 20 years ago.

This is concept of galvanized vs fully galvanized needs to be clarified and explained by one of our resident experts.

Obviously overspray, not rust. I certainly wouldn’t be happy paying for that paint job.
Or the $162 for that matter. Just me perhaps. Lots of comments from the the peanut gallery on how well bought it was. Lots more money than sense these days it seems

I must say the driving vid's a hoot complete with "let's overtake an SUV, minivan quickly in a tunnel" moments !

What's that "accessory" the driver has on BTW ?
