I am considering this vehicle for purchase
https://www.copart.com/lot/67197761/salvage-1968-porsche-912-pa-york-haven
Anyone know its history? What might a good price point be? Thanks in advance.

Prices are a bit all over the place on 912s at the moment.
Low sales on BAT are $30k but few and far between. Higher / typical are around the $40k+. Some wild prices there too in the $80s, but due to the history, this car will never be one of those without a special engine in it. Private sales are around $30k upwards for a nice running, non concours, non rotten Sunday driver car. They are hard to find though. Beverly Hills Car Club have been pushing their prices up for 912s for a while and seem to have met the ‘sticking point’ where the cars don’t seem to be moving very quickly any more. At the $2k current price, it’s worth all that and more in parts. Assuming the engine and trans are good, you could probably buy it for up to $4.5k and if it was too much for you, get your money back by parting it out. Not sure I would personally put that one back together, but I’m sure there are worse that have been returned to the road. There is a surprising amount of work getting a front ended car hit that hard, back tracking straight and true again - especially for an amateur like me. Maybe someone on 912BBS forums knows the car. This is all due to change literally on a month by month basis as the markets for classics flow due to time of year and people’s financial optimism.

It's at Co Part, this car will sell minimum $15,000 but could reach well into the 20's, crazy but true. Take the wreck, and the salvage history hit and there is no deal on a car like this. If you could have bought it off the guy that wrecked it yes, but now that's it at Co Part it cooked, high priced cooked.

Tried to buy a salvage 997 turbo in October, bidding went up 25k in those last seconds to a price it would never have brought elsewhere. |

Most co part cars get exported
Higher values over all Lower labor cost to repair No salvage titles. Almost impossible to over come here in the US
