Us 1987 carrera
I imported my 1987 Carrera from the USA TO CANADA. It is a US CAR!
Question...If I decide at one point to sell my car to an American who will import it back to the USA, Will there be easier to do that because it is a USA car? and over 25 years old? |

I bought a US original '72 911 near Toronto. Owner converted the title to Canadian ownership. I paid the customs fees on value and brought it back to the US. Got it titled in my state with no problems.

1. Due to its age - No issues 2. The US Customs refer to it as a 'USA car returning' if you can prove that it is. A Border Brokerage firm can do the paper work for around $200.00, and if they pick it up in 'Canada,' they can make the declaration at the US Customs...No charge.

For #2. Under the engine lid should be an emissions decal label. It will read something like "Federally compliant or California and Federally compliant". Unless it's an RoW car, then it probably wouldn't have that. |

I sold a us original 87 Carrera back to the us last year and the shipping company (TFX transport) required payment of the duty on the car. Seems like if you're lucky and you can slip it through the cracks you might get away without paying the duty but not if you're using a shipping company to handle the brokerage.
Just my experience.
