Sorry I have been busy. I must say I am honored that you guys think so highly of my opinion. I have been looking for a front clip for a 964 that had been crashed for a local project I am helping with and can't find anything for under $3900. IMO $7500 appears to be a fair price for a full tub. I have seen more complete tubs without accident damage sell for over $15k.

I suspect this is an earlier C4 tub based on the metal plates in the front wheel well AFAIK they switched to black plastic in 92 along the opening for the master brake cylinder in the tub which was only opened for cars with Electro hydraulic brakes vs vacuum assist. So unless it was modified its a C4, Turbo (clearly not) or RS/Cup Car. (I highly doubt) are the only 964's with this opening. Edit: After looking closer I don't see any sensors for air-bags so I am assuming it is an 89 C4 since they did not have air-bags.

I have little to go by but I don't see any recent extensive damage. It could be in this condition for any number of reasons. The bungee cords could be they just removed the hardware but know way to tell from these pictures. With a transferable title the right person would jump all over this. I have mostly all the parts needed and access to the rest but the ventilation system will be pricey. At this time I am not selling anything as i need spares for the 5 currently in my possession.

If you don't have access to a Celette Frame machine or equivalent I would caution you might find it has issues or fix it without knowing. If you want to send me some more close up pictures I would be happy to look at it closer. You need to look at the inside of the frunk forward and rear along with the door jams.

Here is an RSA up for auction that was clearly in a bender and poorly repaired. This can be fixed but the cost will be pricey for a car that will probably sell for way too much. I suspect this hit the bottom of the tub hard and probably tweaked the frame. It is a shame whoever did the repairs didn't know what they were doing or took the time to do the job correctly.

I will pm you with my email address if you want me to look it over more closely. If you decide you want to pass let me know. We are looking for a 964 for a Porsche Classic dept project the dealership my son works at. They are trying to become a Classic Porsche dealership and want to showcase a 964 restoration. I wish they would use my early 83 944 but have no interest in it.

Hey Anthony,

Thanks for reaching out and for all of the great info.

Just to hit a few of your questions:

- Car is a 1991, and has transferable registration (title is not needed in it's US state)
- No crash history, "every panel on car is OEM sheet metal .. OEM panel unscathed, spot welds, seam sealer, undercoat"

Post #5 shows the car in the condition it was before pulled apart. The motor went into a '72 RS project. The rest of the parts were scavenged for other builds I'm assuming. The family who was selling the car have some deep Porsche roots. Tons of other projects getting worked on and part piles.

The car has decent race history and was said to have earned podium at Sebring, Carolina Motorsports, Virginia International;, and a few others..

I paid for the car and now I'm just waiting to get it home one of these days. I am open to hear offers but also would love to learn more about the platform by giving it new life.

I will send you more details on the car in PM.

Thanks

I'm pretty sure I built that car 20 years ago shame it got stripped out
I'd buy it at that price in a minute

Hey Dan,

It is that car. Feel free to send me any info you might have on it.

If you have any history/photos of the build - that would be neat to see!

Mario

What a shame if Dan built that car it probably was a blast. I have one of his builds and it is quite similar in Feel to the 92 cup car sitting in my garage for the moment. DJ builds are a some of the best 964’s i have driven.

Being an RS build it would make sense why the brake M/C is where it is and most likely the air bag sensors were removed.

Yup, it is what it is at this point.

I'd love to see photos or videos of this car in action.

Cobalt, maybe you'll have to take me for a spin next time I'm in Jersey

Good motivation..

Please do. I am nearly done with my C2 slick top reconstruction. I should have done this work to a tub like yours instead of a relatively pristine 60k mile 93 C2 but I am very happy with how it is coming out.

It is down to the wire. Just waiting to install the glass and almost done with installing the engine. The only thing stock for now is the engine and transmission. I hope to send out a spare G50 I have for short gears one day but for now I just want to get out and drive. This was 3 months of work that has taken a little over 2 years. Thank you Covid and supply chain issues. LOL

The tail looks larger than it is because of the angle and no rear bumper. It is a stock RSA tail and lid that someone shipped to me for $900 years ago. Boy do I miss those days.

looking forward to seeing how you progress and let me know if I can be of any help.

If the owner claims accident free well...That's a stretch It's a very experienced race car
The last time we fixed it it was straight when we were done though

Yup, good race history.

Glad to hear. I'll share any photos I find of it being complete.

And some once I have it in skeleton form..
