Euro car value versus US
Are the Euro specs 911s warrant a higher price because of higher hp in the European model ? Thanks.

Short answer is not really. But it's not an all-across-the board thing. Being a euro model might warrant no price difference in some 911 generations or a small difference in others (either positive or negative). That said, there are also specific euro models that DO warrant a significantly higher price than their U.S. siblings. The mid-year Carreras are an example of this.

Totally depends on the year of the car and the spec. The most obvious example is a 68S. No such thing in the US.
Grey market 930s had a bad rap for decades. Now if the car is clean and solid it doesn’t matter.

The problem is CA for anything post 75. I had a euro SC for sale a few years back and spoke extensively to a few guys in CA that were interested. They both backed off when they researched the smog requirements. Just as well. Turns out my son wanted it.

I always thought that a Wong or equivalent chip would get you euro hp.

I'm aware that the SC Euro 3.oL had higher compression at least in the early bigger intake 78-79 models. We were allowed to use those higher compression pistons in the Spec911 class. I know that the US versions 80-83 that lost the emissions air pump had a tad higher compression than the earlier delivered SC, but had the smaller intake runners...

As I said above, it all depends on year. We’ve got a quarter century worth of cars here.

had an '85 euro. it made impressive power - the other Euro touches were nice, as well.
all things being equal? the Euro is a better car - it never seems to be reflected in pricing, due to the deserved reputation of having been hacked to meet the US importation regulations/requirements. fwiw - cars imported into Canada did not require the hack job. ![]() |
