Salvage Porsches for Sale

Just came across this site, thought the Carrera 2 might be of interest to someone here, could turn out to be a bargain!

All that site does is mirror Copart.com which is where those cars are sold. Some of them are able to be purchased by an individual. Some require a Dealer's License and some can be purchased through a broker.
To bid or find a broker you need to register with Copart.

Here is one of the Porsche's listed on the site the OP linked to. And it's real listing on Copart.

Beware of going through third party sites as they will charge you more in unnecessary fees. Register with Copart if you have interest in a certain car.

Another couple of factoids, all bids before the actual start of the sale (which is listed on the right) are cancelled when the sale actually starts. So it's pointless to bid on something until the actual date and time of the sale.
Repaired Cars with a salvage title will need to go through your states DMV to be able to obtain a normal title. What is required to obtain a normal title varies in each state so check your local DMV. The salvage history of the car remains though and shows on a CarFax report, and some titles are branded salvage repaired as well.

Copart is a joke unless you have a dealers license. Joe public gets hosed with additional fees.

Nothing you can do to avoid the fees... but I use autobidmaster.com which is a registered copart broker so you can basically bid on anything on Copart.

It's worse than that, even if you have a dealer's license, there are no deals at CoPart. I've watched wrecked cars routinely come to within 20% of retail.
Especially if it's an old Porsche, everyone with a little bit of knowledge will overvalue it.

Case in point, I sold my autocross 914 this year on ebay for $6000, running and driving, but running rough. A dealer bought it, had it shipped to the local CoPart where it got auctioned for $14,000. The guy that bought it had no idea the history, once I showed him the ebay ad accurately describing the car, he pulled out, and the car is still for sale at CoPart. But lots of guys buy cars on there having no idea, and those are the guys you have it bid against.
