Sorry but here is another what is it worth

A friend is selling a 2008 Turbo Cab. six speed with 43,000 miles. Three owner car and always well maintained. Has a hard top as well. Small nicks and scratches but overall very good condition. I want to make an offer but want to be fair to him. What do you all think it is worth.

have you run a KBB on it? done any BAT searches for like cars? the hard top is a great feature with this car.

KBB seems to price the car very low in my opinion (62k-70K) might be good for me but I do not think it would be a fair offer to him. On the flip side BAT prices seem to be all over the place with no rhyme or reason. Was hoping to get better insight from some of the 997 folks here

I owned a beautiful 09 TT Cab and sold it a few years ago. (4 years maybe?) I sold it for $79K but it only had 20K miles on it. No hard top though. These Metzger engines are highly desirable and pretty bullet proof. Not sure if they have the cooling hose issue that the GT3's have/had. Look into that. The fittings break away and need to be pinned/glued.

These are wonderful cars and undervalued here on Pelican because of the stupid Cabriolet stigma some people have. I'd make sure ALL the dealer maintenance has been performed and it's documented. I'd also look closely at the convertible top. It's 14 years old at this point. You don't want to have to replace it and if it hasn't been taken care of it could cost you a pretty penny.

I think the KBB pricing is fair.

Good luck.

I don’t know a value, but on the pinning thing I tell my clients not to worry about preemptive maintenance unless they track the car. It should be done, but wait until you are doing the clutch and do it simultaneously.

The Red Flash!

To the OP - I'm no big expert of the model but manual 997TTs are quite hot I think, in my view the KBB price is low, even if the market has cooled some.

Yes. I can't say I loved that car though. It was wasted on me and my use. Still, it was a wonderful vehicle.

try rennlist. there are a ton more water-cooled experts frequenting that forum. ask in the turbo forum and maybe some classified research? pelican has always been more of an air-cooled enthusiast site.

have you been able to find any ads from dealerships (trade in) or niche exotic car sales places?

Our hoses blew and we do not track the car. I recommend worrying about it around 60K miles or if you track the car. Not cheap to fix but the car is bulletproof now.

Not a true comp since it’s an S, but gives you an idea where the top of the market is, and suggests to me that KBB for your example isn’t too far off the mark.

That's a 996 though, he's looking at a 997

Btw that's a sweet looking car. How did you find it?

Oops, I didn’t even look closely at the picture, just the date and description. My brain went 2005 is 997…

Joe is a friend and a broker. He sold my 40 Jahre for me last month. He gets some nice cars.

Demand is going down.
Cars are sitting.
Winter is coming.
Recession knocking on our door.
You can either follow the market and watch your car in your driveway indefinitely or you can set the market.

It's simple economics
