Appraisal assistance please 70 911E
Hello everyone,
If I may, I'd like to ask for your help in learning what the value of my 911E is so I can put it up for sale. I figured with the awesome amount of knowledge here, it would be the best place to start. If there's any further info or pictures you'd like me to provide, please ask and I'll be happy to oblige. The car has a very interesting history from the late 80's straight out of Miami Vice which I may get into later. Thank you in advance, I really appreciate your assistance. 1970 911E running an 85 Carrera 3.2/915. car had 11k miles on it when the 3.2 conversion was completed. The gauges from the donor car were installed as well and show approximately 52k currently, top end rebuild at Porsche shop in San Diego at 48k. Late model flares and impact bumpers converted by a Porsche shop in San Diego as well. Recently painted in a shade of blood orange. Runs and drives, will need the clutch replaced soon (not me, I drive like an old lady lol). New Kennedy clutch and Patrick motorsports flywheel in a box. JWest engineering shifter, new shift coupler installed. Front aluminum S calipers and rear M calipers rebuilt, new braided lines, new master cylinder, four new Koni adjustables all around, all new AN ptfe fuel lines, new fuel pump, custom rims from Image Wheel in UK to resemble 917 rims, new continental extreme contact S tires. Momo Prototipo 370mm steering wheel on a rennline quick release hub adapter. I have a lot of extra parts to go away with the car as well. Four doors, two 69, two 80's, four different engine covers, a few grill inserts for them, steering rack and torsion bar dropout (forgive my lack of Porsche nomenclature) and aluminum trailing arms from a later model car, also a 69 steel set, late rear window with defrost. Lots of interior pieces from later cars, 915 shifter and knob. The car still needs work. It doesn't have door panels, needs new window felt in the guides. Clutch as previously stated, probably some torsion bars as she sat on jack stands for nearly 30 years. I'm sure there's some knick knack bs I can list off as well, but as stated, she still needs work. Pictures to follow! Some of these are from various stages since I've owned it, so please keep that in mind. Again, thank you all, I appreciate your help. ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Not really sure if I can help with value but, I have a question for you...why did you update the body to impact bumper? I think it would be worth more if you left it a long hood.
Was the sunroof an add on? I noticed you have the wrong headliner installed for a sunroof. There is no access panel if the motor has issues in the future. Any pictures of the undercarriage? Your drivetrain choices are great. Lots of desirable parts there.

Hello Lou. I definitely did not change the car to impact bumpers, the previous owner had all this done. I could never do that to a beautiful long hood car lol. The car is an original sunroof car, it all works perfect, the headliner is also original and has an access area at the back. Installing all the sunroof pieces would have been impossible with the headliner in and no zipper access...

No useful info? Did I scare people by including too much information?

I apologize I did not see the access zipper on the headliner.
Not sure why no one else is chiming in here. So, if the car is complete with some maintenance needs as you mentioned, and with todays prices, 50-70k Hopefully that will start a dialog here... Last edited by lsf911; 05-21-2023 at 05:14 PM.. |

Hello Lou,
Thank you for you reply, no worries on the zipper! The pictures aren't the best quality, especially on something like that. I appreciate your input, have a good one |

Dang. I'll burn this thing up and collect the insurance then at that point lol. Seen quite a few 911's with fires from various blower motors or fuel issues...

1970 911e
Impact bumper conversions were popular to “impress” people that it was a newer version post ‘74 911. Long hood styling was not appreciated by some people until many years later.
It looks like it has post ‘78 flares so I would probably leave those on (expensive to convert back with new paint), but I would spend the extra money to convert the bumpers back to a ‘70 911. If you have the money and time, with the flares and a duck, it could make nice Carrera RS tribute and probably bring nice coin on BAT. Like it sits, a mostly finished project 911 with a straight tub (clear title) with some needs, I would say it would probably pull around $40k-$50k. This car is for someone who likes the color and wants a similar build stage car to make his own, or someone who could do some work and make a little $$ on BAT after the needs/bumpers are addressed. |

Thank you both, I do agree with you 100%. I'm kind of over this project though, especially since I have others lol. So if anyone returns it to the beautiful long hood that she deserves to be, it won't be me unfortunately. It's up for sale, so thank you again to those who participated, I really appreciate your time and knowledge. Have a good one!

I appreciate your offer, but I'm done with the car. I would be very happy with 50. Hopefully today's "stupid" market as you say will net me that lol

All I can say it takes a big and great man to know when enough is enough and to walk away when it's time. I wish I could on half of my crap that takes up my time.
