FAQ Selling my Carrera
Is there an FAQ for selling a car? I am in Canada and the buyer is in the US. Things like deposits and payments and just how to work the sale? I bought the car in the US and flew down and guy wanted cash. Drove the car back. TIA

Did you search? There was a somewhat recent thread about selling a car from Canada. Definitely a number of them in recent years. But no, no faq.

The buyer will need the bill of sale, Manitoba registration document and probably the CBP form (7501). If they want to drive it across themselves they may need temporary plates if Manitoba takes them back when the car is sold. When I bought a car in Vancouver the seller and I went to an ICBC office and signed the bill of sale and informed the province that it was being sold out of province. I don't know what Manitoba is like but I'm sure it's similar. If they're shipping the car over, they can hire a broker who will handle everything for a few hundred dollars plus whatever shipping costs. The CBP 7501 form may not be needed since the car came to Canada from the US (not sure about that but it's easy enough to fill out and print), and no duty will need to be paid since the car was originally sold in the US and duty was paid when it was first imported. When I bought my car I wired the funds (sale price agreed was in USD) from my bank to his. Overall bringing in an old car from Canada to the US is quite easy.
