And right there in your backyard, of sorts.

There’s one quite literally next door. I’ve been allowed to look at it twice, in12 years.

His grandson moved in last year. Says they are going to revive it together. His “it’s not for sale” has gotten more firm in recent days.

I once had a 55 Speedster bought until he said he was going to give it to his grandson. I said real loud for the whole family to hear that we should all go over the Honda dealer and I would buy any car on the lot, if they gave me the Speedster. There is always an angle to appeal to everyone involved, you just have to find it.

Barn finds

They’re out there, just not as many as 30 - 40 years ago.

I grew up in a very small town in central TN and my Dad always had at least one or two old VW’s.

I recall going to a country house in the late 1970’s and sourcing some parts for his ‘66 1300 bug. The gent took us to a barn that had many dust covered 356’s in it, at least 10-15 (lots of VW’s too).

I was probably 14-15 years old at the time, but was amazed that so many cars could be stored in a barn. I asked Dad about them and he said they were Porsches, kinda “Super VW’s” he said with a smile…

I wish I had kept up with that lot, I’m sure they were sold off by the family when the old gent passed as was norm for those days…

The old man got cold feet on the Honda, I eventually had to give him $80,000 for the Speedster, I took a pic of the money to remember it by.

I was in your neighborhood for the PCA Zone 1 Presidents meeting last weekend. My friend Gerry M always says I should stop by when I am in the area. Sadly it was raining and had no time. Seems you were in the right place with buying all of this when it was pennies. $80k for a speedster. If only today.

I bought a lot back in the day, but also bought a lot last week, it's all relative.

Feel free to swing by, we love visitors, we don't get many, when is anyone really ever in Ravena?

I will make plans for next time. We have the PCA Zone 1 Presidents meeting every 6 months at the Hilton by the Airport about 30 mins away. Would love to see the collection of goodies.
