'73 911 T Targa
|
What’s my car worth?
My ‘73 911T Targa is a 5 footer. It’s got a handful of small paint chips, but no dents or scratches. It’s a rust-free California car that’s never been in snow or rain.
The paint is not original; it is a Mercedes color called Anthracite Gray that really sets off the chrome. The seats have new leather upholstery and there’s new carpet. I have removed the big black bumperettes and the black trim and replaced them with chrome, so it looks like a ‘72. I have the original trim parts if someone wanted to put them back. The engine was re-built at 100k mi and bumped up to 2.7 but kept the original T cams. It was also converted to Webers at the time. I’ve added 20k miles since then. Fuel tank, fuel pump and fuel lines all recently replaced. It’s not perfect, but is damn nice and it runs great. I see prices on Hemmings and BAT all over the map. What’s the real world say? A really clean '70t coupe with a non matching #s 2.7l with mfi and non-original color just hit $86k on BAT, didn't hit the reserve but they closed the deal after, would guess in the $90k range. I would think a modified to 2.7l matching #s motor with webers would be about a wash vs the non matching # 2.7 with mfi of the BAT car, maybe a little in your favor. The coupe is definitely more desirable than the targa though. I'd have to see more pics and your interior but a rough guess would be in the $75-80k range, curious to hear what others think though. I also have a '73t that I plan on selling soon, but it's a coupe in a rare original color with a matching #s 2.4l, thinking it may pull 6 figures based on that recent BAT auction. |
