value on 98 993C2S

Looking for opinions and the latest exellence value (I did not keep that issue).

Black on black
mediocre recent repaint
70K plus miles
new clutch last year
no warning lights (plugged Ox injectors) at this point.

TIA

My best guess would be (and you make no mention of interior condition) but I think that Low-30s would be my highest price for that Porsche. My question for the seller would be why is a car that is only 8 years old repainted? When you drove it how was it interms of rattles and clunks?

Agreed, the "mediocre recent repaint" would worry me. Without this, it would fetch in the 40s I would think...the C2S's are hard to come by..

Yes C2s (I think that was the only way you could get them in 97,98?. Interior looks good for 70K miles. Repaint because of general sand blasting, nicks, door dings. Have known car and previous owner for many years. He is second owner bought a couple of years old. He is a dentist and not a hard core and he just did not know any better on the repaint. It was a his daily driver. Always serviced at the dealer. He is a "friend" so I dont want to low ball him at the same time the repaint really effects the value long term... I dont see too many C2S for less than high 40s, they always have low miles and no paint work. Its got to be worth more than a 95 or 96 C2??? I am thinking low 40s is fair??

EW, If the PPI checks out and there was no significant body damage pre repaint, $40K is OK. If you keep the car a few years, the value hickey of a repaint will fade.

You prolly know about the potential for soft valve guides and the CEL/SAI problem. It's a roll of the dice. Good luck!

Low to mid-$40K range. The fact that you've known the car for years adds a few grand to bring it to that level.

Excellence Feb 2006:

The only C2S noted was MY1997. 2005 value states low condition priced 32633 to excellent priced 41838.

I recently was looking for the same 911; I found that in my area if a 98 C2S was in excellent low mileage condition, it was going for mid- to high-40's. Saw some asking mid-50's!

Hope that helps.

Brian

What about a 1998 C4S in excellent condition with 40K mi? I was browsing craigslist yesterday and this guy wants $55K for it? This seems to me like a huge premium over the blue book value. What's up with that???

Intersting point on this car, the loan value at the credit union was only 26K....I thought that seemed a little low but a guess LV and KBB etc. have a hard time with cars that are a little more special.

C2S's are definitely the most sought-after 993's. They are always more than C4S's. A real nice one can fetch high $50's. I have a C2S split grille on my C2 and with it so low, it looks a lot wider. But I have Big Reds like on the C4S, which the C2S doesn't have. I like my combo a lot more than the real thing.
