LOL! I think you already know what everyone else knows. Do you think that listing would last 10 minutes if it was for real?

Dont tell me the car is in the US but the owner is somewhere overseas. He'll pay for shipping to your door and you have 30 days to decide if you want it all you have to do is send around 1/2 the price via wire to eastern europe or nigeria

Follow-up

Got a message from ebay security and warned me not to make any transaction w/o going thru ebay. Never heard from the seller though.

I put in a bid on an 89 cab from a deal in Chi 3 weeks ago, the auction ended 10 days ago. Since then I have received 27 different "second chance" offers all from different people all with the very very official ebay looking screen all wanting me to buy the car from them at a lower price than my bid and they will pay all the shipping. I forward them all to spoof@ebay.com since I know they're all fakes but thats generally waste of time too. Ebay is ripe with fraud you have to be smart about every move you make on ebay and NEVER do anything outside of ebay unless you see the other party in person.

The car offered at a silly low price is an old trick. Notice the buy it now price is not an option you can click on its an email me your info so I can go phishing for the rest offer. Oh and they're always private auctions you need to pre qualify for by registering with the seller.

Ebay makes me sick these days

Looks like eBay removed the listing.

Bones, Ebay is probably not the best place to buy your first Porsche unless you can find one locally and get it inspected prior to purchase. If you buy someone else's headache, it can get very expensive very fast.

Collectorcartrader is a good source as is the FS section here.

Always insist on prepurchase inspection (PPI) from a recommended shop.

Did I mention you should get a PPI?

Good luck!

Thanks guys,

Yeah, I've been lurking for a month or two now, looking for a 911 cab, trading up from BMW. I know to be very cautious with ebay, I think the exception may be with dealing with Porsche dealers who have 3-4 year old cars and basically still under warranty, I don't see any scam there.

Was looking at yahoo a 87 911 Cab with 8200 original miles at New Country Porsche in Greenwich, Ct. asking price very high 40K and they say quick sale?If anybody could bring it up and give opinion would be very appreciated. On the bottom of the yahoo inquiry page there is a number 198335940 if this helps bringing it up.
I was actually looking for a newer 911 but with this low mileage and the good writeups in general about this model and engine I thought this might be worth looking into.

Just as a short intro, I'm living in a suburb north of the big apple, old enough to have a sorta young retirement and going thru all the toy phase now, Harley, BMW, Porsche and I guess kinda lucky the old lady leaves me alone. This board has been great info. Thanks guys.
