Selling D Car, Whats Wrong ?

Out of curiosity, why is so hard to sell high output horsepower cars in the Porsche World? I ask because I have seen a dozen or so in the past 6 months and they won't sell, including ours.

Any Ideas why ?

I think it is because most people that buy 911's want unmolested ones.

Your car is special, and is going to take a special buyer.

The more anything is modified, the more difficult it usually is to sell.

Same here in Europe i,m afraid Juan. I guess people rather spend alot on spoilers and wheels to make it look fast

Market is smaller for drag raced 911's, even smaller than road raced 911's is my guess.

Well 911 turbos are hard to sell to begin with. It's even harder to sell modded ones. I think people are concerned with reliability and longevity. Highly built N/A cars are a much easier sell.

Folks seem to want an original drivetrain (I guess I was guilty of this myself), even though say a 3.6 conversion is a big improvement. I saw an SC for sale some time ago with a nice 3.6 conversion that took the guy forever to sell, and actually sold for LESS than a stock SC. He said many potential buyers did not like the idea of an "incorrect" engine being in the car, even a better one! You will have 2 choices, sell it cheap and take a huge loss, or hold out and you will eventually find a buyer at a loss, but hopefully a smaller loss. Either way you will never get close to getting your money back. BTDT!

thanks guys,

the car is de -tuned to 16 pnds of boost, it has the muffler back and is now civilize again, a nice ride that sits very lonely in the garage.

lots of memory's ..................

for sure is a "HUGE" loss, so Im prepare for that, but I wont sell it for 20k thats for sure.

+1 on modded cars, especially turbos, my friend. we do all know that you've got one hell of a monster there, though..

There's also a line of thinking that they've had the snot run out of them.

That is not always the case in fact on the street I don't know how you could run the snot out of them w/o losing you drivers licence. There is always the crowd that like the stock cars on those of us that find that stock Porsches don't have the perfomance we desire.

I agree, even on low boost @ 18 psi you run out of road very quick, you can just drive normally with zero boost, it just happens that is all there on demand if you wish.

If you have the road and more important the "Cojones" then you can switch to 33 psi of boost.

I was under the impression that high powered 911 were on high demand, but once again I was wrong

I have noticed the ratio as well. The narrowing pool of buyers is directly proportional to the amount of mods on the car.

I didn't say people really do run the snot out of them, but some people will think you have.

Why build 600 Hp if you're only going to use 400?

i would think that your market is going to be the same guys building those quarter-mile rockets like yours, juan.
