1988 944 turbo pricing

Looking at a high mileage (125,000) 944 turbo (Not an S) in great shape, with all records and a few upgrades (brakes, clutch, chip and wheels). He is asking $10,000 which seems high but I don't know this market very well. Any advice would be appreciated.

not out of line for a nice car
that has no problems new belts ect
125k is not real high for an 88
5 k is about the bottom turbo price
and those cars can eat cash
but each year goes up a little
intill you hit the "S" in 89
and those are way over 10k

I basically agree with nota...$10k is on the high side for an average-mileage 1988 944 turbo that has a basically stock engine. It is not out of the question, however, if it is an exceptionally nice car, absolutely everything works (AC, clock, roof, other electrics), and the owner has recent receipts for /all/ of the standard maintainence items, so it won't need anything but gas and oil for a year or two...it should have new belts, waterpump, maybe seals, clutch, and at that mileage, maybe rod bearings and a turbo rebuild (though I think conventional wisdom says the turbo is good for 150k miles...?). For that price, it needs to be something special.

Thanks for the help guys. Bought the car last night for $9000 contingent on PPI. Maybe still a little high but the car was very nice.

While it only takes one internet posting of a guy who buys a Perfect S for 7K to throw everyone in a tizzy, buy a QUALITY car. One that has the records, checks out well, is physically in good shape (paint, interior, dash, seats etc). If YOU don't think 9K is high, go for it. Enjoy it. As the cars get older it will only get harder to find a good car at a good price.
