Value? Modified '80 911SC
I've come across a very interesting toy and may consider selling my '80 SC to fund the purchase. Maybe.
I haven't thought about selling it so I don't know what it's worth. Any ideas? 1980 911 SC w/ 3.0 engine and 915 trans. Clear title. ~145k miles on car. Engine and trans are in good health. Fresh Wevo mounts on engine and trans. -Engine head studs replaced at ~100k miles, backdated SSI exhaust and 2 in 1 out muffler added at that time, along with a clutch and pop off valve. -Backdated heat system. -No A/C - have A/C parts that can be included. -Suspension refreshed about 10-15k miles ago with new bushings and Bilsteins. -Ruf front and rear bumpers. Stock bumpers and valances can be included. -7&8x15 Fuchs wheels with fresh Hankook Z212 RS2 tires 205/50/15 f 225/50/15 rear. -Currently has 930S steering wheel, Recaro SRD seats, Rennshift shifter, ducktail, LM1. These parts may/may not be included. -Leakdown and compression tests done by PO, Results were very good - I need to dig up those numbers. Not done recently. -Engine/trans does not leave oil drops on floor. Ever. -Currently running 15w-40 synthetic engine oil and Swepco fluid in trans. -A few hundred lbs less weight than a stock SC. -Paint is what I consider a (very conservative) 20 footer. Looks nice in pics. -Car is dirty right now - hadn't planned on selling it so I haven't cleaned it up. -Car has been rear ended in a 5-10mph impact. Read about it here on Pelican. The repairs were done very well. This is the most current pic: ![]() Other pics: ![]() ![]() ![]() The car when I purchased it: ![]() |

I don't know about the market out there, but in SoCal, probably ask around $12,500 and take anything above 10K.

East coast prices are a bit higher due to the scarcity of air-cooled Porsches on the Market and we don't have as many smog restrictions as CA.
Project cars go for 6-10k here. I was interested in a few cars that were located in CA but I just don't have the time to fly out to check out the cars and have it shipped back. The local shop by me has sold a few "nice" SC's for 15 to 18K with over 100,000 miles on them in last couple on months.

I looked up prices of non-turbo SC's within 500 miles and here is what I found:
Qty 1 $11,000 2 $12,500 1 $13,000 2 $14,000 3 $15,000 6 $18,000 1 $20,000 1 $23,000 2 $26,000 1 $ 30,000 Out of 40 (non-Turbo) Carrreras listed, 8 are below $18,000 and the rest are all in the mid-20's to the low $30,000 I'm going to have to start importing Porsche's from the Republic of California ![]()

I don't want to get into the stock vs. modified debate but some people value mods, some people don't. |

Now in 993 land ...

While it has a bunch of upgradeds, it isn't that anything has really been restored. The paint sounds a bit tired as well. This car is not worth more than the same vehicle in stock trim. So, whatever a 140k car costs in your neck of the woods, that's what this is worth. My guess at a fair price would be 12-14k.

Depends on paint . A lot of people want that look, and aren't going to want to build it. If the paint is only fair, that does put you down.
Nice car BTW. |

Thanks for the info folks. This has been an informative thread.
I'm happy to say the SC is staying put at least until my widebody longhood is finished and sorted. |

Did you install the Ruf bumpers? Were they an easy swap or do they require some "encouragement"?
