V8 Conversion...

Hi all,
I'm doing something to my 911SC that some of you may find blasphemious. I will be swapping my 3.0 liter motor for a 375HP Small Block Chevy. Anyone ever had a 915 rebuild through Renegade Hybrids? They charge about $3500 bucks to prep one for the high torque output of a 350 . I can have it rebuilt at supertec for $2000, but the boys at renegade say that's prolly just a re-freshed tranny, and not completely rebuilt. Looking at the price of parts for all the tranny components, they sound right. Its' easy to spend 2000 on parts alone! Anyone here done anything similar?

Pretty sure that a mag cased 915 will never handle the SBC torque, no matter how it is built. An aluminum cased one is some percentage stronger, but may still not be strong enough for the torque of a 5.7 liter (more or less) V8.

As long as you are performing major surgery, you should conside finding a G50 transaxle, with heavier duty syncros, etc..

915 might work ok, but I'd go with a 930 4 speed and be done with it.
