send the investigator
Unless you like being screwed out of 21,000 I would put some good hired help on the job. I think thats the only way you will get anywhere. I have been down this road before. Im betting that your bank will do nothing, and that the FBI will not do anything that they cant do sitting in an office. You need a big ugly guy who will get out of his chair and go find your car! At least the investigator will be able to pull together evidence for Law enforcement.

I have thought about hiring a PI but i want to check whether he skipped town first, if he is still in Rock Hill it would be the best way to hire a PI.. |

Sebastian,
I don't want to kick you when you are down, but it seems that either your great trust in human honesty, cheapness or laziness has led you into paying a lot of money to buy a car you have never seen from a person you have never met. From what I also can gather, your situation is more dire as you have no title and no bill of sale from the seller. Instead of trying to use a telephone to get what you are owed, you should jump on the next available flight and fly over yourself in person, have either the police, the FBI or a private detective accompany you and knock on the guy's door to demand the car or your money back. I would suggest a detective be involved so you know which door to knock on. And a police officer so that you can file a report immediately and get a lawsuit going if necessary. Posting messages on this board, and hoping for people here to volunteer their help to make this guy give you your car is just wishful thinking at this point. In the end, you should realize that you need to fight your own battles and own up to your own mistake by not protecting yourself from getting screwed. As John Se is subtley trying to say, you need to take matters into your own hands ASAP and put serious direct pressure on this guy. If everything you have stated about your transaction with this guy is true, trying to call this guy over the phone and threaten him, convince, or befriend him into giving you your car or money back is a waste of time. At this point you should have already concluded that this guy has screwed you. Don't you think that if he was an honest guy he would have tried to get in touch with you? No honest person receives a $21000 wire transfer and doesn't make some effort to contact the person who sent the money and let them know what is going on with the car. The reality is that it's a lot easier for people to screw someone who is so far away. It's like bombing a city from a plane. It's a game of target practice for pilots until the are forced to see the dead bodies and destroyed houses on the ground. Sending a wire transfer from Europe over to his bank account makes it real easy for a person to make the decision to do the wrong thing. You really need to get on the next flight over to the USA and make this person see whose money he has stolen so he understands it is not a victimless crime. Bring pictures of your kids and wife too if you have a family so he can who else he is stealing from. $21000 can cover a lot of medical bills and is a good nest egg for a college education. |

Yes a PI
Just being funny, Trying to help you keep a sense of humor!
Big or small it doesnt matter, just someone with experience and who will be taken very seriously. But these PIs know the ropes and the law, and you need to get some one on the perps trail. You know they go out and ask around, check with landlords, stop by addresses, talk to neighbors, do what needs to be done. It will cost a little dough but at least if you find the car you wont be completely out, it will just cost a litte more than you planned. But since when is that a surprise in the old car hobby? At least you will know something. I was surprised how my bad guy all of a sudden showed back up and started returing my calls when I sent someone to find him. It changed his whole attitude and I have my car now. You never know what kind of a deal these bad guys are running, maybe there is a simple explaination, may the bad guy believes he is honest just in some sort of problem. You need to locate that car. I would guess since bad guys usually dont have money, If you get your car then you will have won. Get your car and chalk it up to experience. I have had to learn that painful lesson myself. Now if you found a guy that looked like Luca Brasi or Tony Soprano, they would be taken very seriously. Phone calls and Emails are easy to ignore. Infact it works in your favor if the bad guy doesnt know you have someone looking for him. Just my honest reccomendation from my own experience and previous poor judgement, that I would give to any friend. |

Sebastian, Phones calls are overrated. You have been trying to get in touch with this guy for a while. When you negotiated the deal with him, I assume it involved numerous phone calls. There was no problem getting him on the phone then, so why would he be so "unreachable" now? Because it's you! Don't waste any more time trying to reach him by phone. Scam artists make themselves unavailable. On the other hand, it's hard to avoid a person from whom you stole money who is standing at your front door with a cop and a private detective. Make sure the cop comes in a squad car so the neighbors can see what kind of sleazeball neighbor they have. Look up his parents too and tell them what their precious son has done. You need to get on a plane and quit believing that a phone is going to solve your problems. |

guys, until I haven't established if he indeed still lives at the same adress ( this can be doen with a PI ) I am not going to take a plane and try and find him, if he indeed moved away I can add another $ 2000 to the amount and still don't have a car or found the man..

From a 2006 list of area criminal activity:
James Marion Branham, 53, 735 S. Cherry Road, Rock Hill, S.C., was arrested Feb. 15 and charged with violation of probation for grand theft. http://www.myhometownnews.net/index.php?id=3200

I don't think he meant anything racist by his comment. Google "mexican guns for hire" and see how many movies/westerns and documentaries have this theme.
Good luck Sebastian with the hired guns.......regardless of what they look like!

Oh Boy ! where is this going to
.I could have written yougoslavian guns but most people don't know what that means but here in Europe they do. guys it's merely an expression , the reason I removed it is because I thought my scammer could use it in court if it comes to that so that's why. So let's stop this nonsence referring to who or different races, I f you cannot see a joke if one is made than you miss a essential key that is called humor ( most fanatic believers miss that dna as well ).. No hard feeling here, |
