Value of 2.4T engine?
I'm tossing ideas around - top-end, full rebuild or transplant. If I go transplant, what would a stock 2.4T engine go for? I would say the engine is tired but not in dire need of a rebuild, depending on what it's to be used for. It's lacking power at the track (lots of threads in the tech forum about this) but is perfectly fine for spirited street driving. 155,000 kms on it, though only a 5-digit odo, so I can't guarantee it's not 255K (though that's not likely). AFAIK, it's the original engine to the car, though again I can't confirm. It's got Zenith carbs (recently rebuilt) that could go with it, or be sold separately.
Thanks for any input.

I was looking for a 2.4T or a while. I ended up buying a good one in Europe (Netherlands) for appr $3500 which include a complete set of good running Weber IDA 40 carb's. Motor isn't include heat exchangers or exhaust. A good 2.4T motor with Webers should be worth $3-3500. Long block only that is in running condition with higher miles I would guess is worth around $2000-2500. Zenith carb's add $500. Really nice complete low miles 2.4T MFI is worth $4-5k. A few guys were trying to sell me theirs for $7k and up. That is too high, unless its the matching numbers engine to your really nice original 2.4T car!
