rsr resto mod
what do you think about a 68 with fg fenders and a rebuilt 3.6 big bore with weber carbs and <1000 miles since rebuild in 1999? no rust, straight body, but needs an interior and paint job. wheels are 9/11 deep dish fuchs i think. i'd like to make it street legal. if i spend 7-10k? on paint and interior work, what would you pay now and whats it worth after its done? any small details (engine numbers, etc.) that would make or break the deal?
thoughts? thanks

Now I am no "expert" and I would recommend getting other peoples opinions. That said a 3.6L seems like A LOT of motor for a short wheel base car, particularly one you are lightening up the front end on.
Like I said though that is just my opinion, and I'm not an expert. If it were my car I'd rather do a 911R with a carb'ed or MFI engine from 2.4L to 3.0L.

I think that you're a little short on your interior/paint estimate at 7K to 10K. A proper paint job could cover those figures alone. A partial interior on my 72 911 was at 5k for a dash, headliner and door panels/pockets alone.

thanks. do you think there's more interest/value in this setup as a track car rather than street?

it would be way more fun as a tracker, and think how much you would save on the paint and interior.

Can you show a picture? My market feel is 18 months old and A lot has changed....
I think 7-10 is very do able. But it depends on if you take the car apart your self etc. Myself and a friend just did back dates and we took the cars all the way apart and both paid similar prices for pretty nice paint jobs at different shops. 4-5K. The interior is pretty cheap minus the period racing seats. Value at the end??? Again a pic would help but SWB RSR is kind of weird. There is one on Ebay right now..not doing too well.
