Help with pricing of 2005/2006 997S
As the "blue books" seem to be a little off on these cars, I was wondering what is considered a fair price for this model (assuming heavily optioned, full leather, Nav, Bose, etc.) Thanks.

It might be easier to look at what dealers are asking and then cut 10-15K off of that. There are not too many to look at here on Pelican. The rennlist ads might be a little better at giving you a price.
I would think 50-60K might be a ballpark to start with.

Do you think the "blue books" are too low or too high? These cars just aren't selling because not many feel comfortable buying a big ticket item in this economy. I would also guess that the examples on the market are sitting a long time compared to 2 years ago.
So, check the BB values for "trades" and go from there. Also a quick scan (nationally) on a place like Autotrader, or checking Ebays "buy it now" prices can help get a fix on prices. Also, coupe/targa/cab will affect prices. Manual or tip also affect them. If Non-s's can be had at $40K+, than an "S" might warrant $50K+

Well, based upon the ads on AutoTrader, Cars.com, and the few on this site, the blue books are too low (or the ads are too high) by several thousands on average. For instance, KBB has the private party value of a 2005 C2S Coupe, heavily optioned, with very low miles (9K) at $42K. However, there are not many listed for sale on the various sites under $50K. Btw, I am looking to buy and think that the economy would help, not hurt me. The ads v. blue books do not seem to reflect that. Thanks for your feedback.

I like to use eBay as a gauge.

1) Asking price doesn NOT always equal selling price
2) I would use KBB/NADA values as a guide.. why? because if the seller were trading the car in, that would be the money offered to them. Folks get awfully emotional when they buy the "car of their dreams" and when its time to sell it, often set an artifically high price. The fact is, even the 997s were made in large enough quanitites to make them more common cars than say, 993s. Plus we all know depriciation hits newer cars harder than 20+ y/o cars. The worst that someone can say when you offer a "low" price is "no thanks" and keep looking. 996 TTs are not hard to find in the $35-45K price range. These cars were $100K+ less than ten years ago! Built in nymbers TOO Great to maintain any exclusivity. Price is driven by supply and demand. . Right now we have pretty high supply and pretty low demand. The worst someone can tell you when you offer a low price is "no thanks". It might help to offer that price for "x" amount of days... sometimes the buyer will "just want it gone" and when no one else offers or shows an interest, your low offer can become more attractive.

KBB and the other sites are of little help in this market. When KBB shows up at your door to pay for a car or has a nice selection of cars at their price let me know.
For some color we just sold two 07 11k miles example C2S's with PCCB brakes for very low 60's CPO. You can find CPO ones without the brakes in the middle 50's <20k miles.
