Not sure what you mean by "trouble" need more details on the car. But, judging by that picture alone it looks OK to me. Rust would be what you are looking for, yes? I do not see any.

I was thinking if it was 30yrs without any kind of rebuild would it need one straight away. Mileage about 60k. No rust luckily. I was just looking at the crud at the gearbox.

Crud is not bad....the fact that it has not been opened up, could be good could be bad. 60k is nothing for these motors. There are a few years that need issues addressed before they happen, 74-77 2.7l cars for instance.

What model and year is this car?

This is something I live for. I can spend and do, hours, days weeks detailing the bottoms of these cars. You would be suprised how nicely they can look. I see no trouble but what do I know?. The upside is all the dirt would be soaked with oil if there was something serious (leaks). Plus the dirt is protecting the metal, I know, sounds odd. Under that dirt lays shiney stuff........

Generally, I read that as the opposite of trouble. The car has given good service and has not needed attention.

It had a split exhaust header and the engine lid is somewhat misaligned.

It was on ebay but did not reach the reserve.
