Arrow Here is an Idea...

QUOTE=CMDR Perry;5453032]... I live in fly over land so the market for old 911's is small and transport costs high. We do have 4 very good independent Porsche shops in the metro area so decent PPi's are available... QUOTE]

... May be around December/January, I could fly down and drive the car on a round trip via Miami and Los Angeles of course I'll put a For Sale sign on it.

I promise that that I would not remove the sign until... at least I cross the Minnesota border

I just bought a car similar to yours a 1980 SC weissach. It is a street legal track car. Lots of track goodies. The motor and tranny freshly rebuilt, no leaks or rust just a solid as a rock SC with a lot of upgrades. I paid 19.5 K. Yours is fairly priced you just need to find the right buyer. Someone who does not mind the mods because they want to track the car occasionally but not so extreme that you have to wait for a track day to drive it. Your add is horrible!!! NEVER tell people your car has an insatiable appetite for your hard earned money!! Who would want that? Don't say the car is not perfect!! hell it's 30 years old!! ofcourse it's not. You want to distinguish why the buyer should buy your SC over someone else's. I see SC's all day for 9-14K. Why did I buy one for 19? Because the money is already in it and it is 100% sorted. Most of the cars offered have high miles and some have the tensioners and pop of valves etc but are they track ready?? no way.

Just go away

Good luck with your new car. It is the high cost of maintenance and repairs that can quickly put you upside down with a 911. But you will learn for yourself soon enough.

Believe me i know from my experience racing subaru's. My hope with the 911 is that I will be at worst rebuilding motors rather then replacing them every year. Not trying to offend. I'm thinking you were making a kind of joke with the appetite reference.
Something we car guys can all relate to. BUT not a good idea when you are trying to sell the car. Good luck with the sale.

My 2 cents, after having tried to sell a street/track car recently...

The 'dual purpose' animal appeals to neither the 'stock' guys or the racers... limited audience in a very challenged market, which is flooded with cars for sale

Your car is really not too far from stock. I would either put it back, sell the race bits, and sell the car, or.... better yet, keep it and drive it as your daily. Soften the suspension, or maybe just get some 15 inch wheels with higher profile tires to soften the ride. That and a cushy stock seat seat will help with the back and rough roads. The only way to get your money out of the car is to drive it to death and enjoy it. And you can still have fun with it at DE

Like what everyone else has suggested - put the car back to stock. From experience there is no such thing as track/road car - it's either a one or the other. In your case bringing the car back to stock and sell off the parts is your best bet unless you want to wait for the right buyer.

If you have no time or don't want to deal with it then lower the price as is and take the hit.

oh - and nice car btw

CMDR, I very much like your car and it would suit my purpose perfectly. A great DE car that I can also commute to the track. I currently have an 89 944S2 track car which i am hoping to shake........i may run into the same issue, but then again i don't have a lot of money in the car so won't be much of a loss to sell cheap. If i do so in the near future, i will certainly further investigate yours. My car is located in Ontario...........so we are not that far away.
