Thank you all for all the replies but still a tough "what to do". If I change the color, I'm thinking Polo, Bahia or maybe another era red. NO GUARDS!..
Rose Red AKA Fraise. Thats the color, pink. Just like Phoenix Red (my old 914 2.0) is really bright-ass orange. Now that's a great color!

If it were me I would repaint a period correct color that is one of the most sought after. Gemini blue, leaf green, slate gray, etc. come to mind but I realize color is subjective.. I think you would really limit your buyers if you go with the pink. One could assume that mostly females would be attracted to this color but I don't think their are a lot of them driving longhoods but I could be mistaken.

Yea, I think females would think "what a cute car" but after the test drive, they'd want all the comforts (a/c ect...) of a new car and endup passing on it.

Very tough decision. . . . It's not the cars' fault that it was painted pink by the factory . . . . I think anyone could build a good case for the original color OR going with a more 'palatable' period correct color. . . . .
At the end of the day, you have to sleep at night with your decision, not us here on the board. Do what you feel is best and don't look back! |

Fraise is French for Strawberry, "Erdbeery" in German. It is a terrific color! The market for long hood 911's is VERY strong in Europe and the buyers are all 30 years olds who think the car is very RETRO. They LOVE the bright colors but demand originality. They pay BIG BUCKS for cars that are rust free (they think all from California are rust free), unmolested, have paperwork, receipts, etc. They prefer coupes over Targas though both sell. I sold an almost perfect completely original Bahama Yellow 1970 911T Targa with 39k original miles to a German for $42k. On Ebay. The EURO was VERY strong at that time, one EURO was over 1.55 dollars. He and I both got a great deal.

Bottom line is you want to get the most out of the car for the daughters college..
Then to get the most stay the correct color....this applies to all cars not just Porsches...listen there is not too many long hoods around anymore...over the years guys would change the color because they needed painted and they didn't cost that much ........but now......original pays the bills man...period....for what you are asking if the color was changed I would never look at the car........I like rare colors tried of red, black and white......but in the 70's there were many neat colors |

I agree with originality. I had a 914 2.0 that was a strawberry fuschia color. Looked pink but everyone gave me thumbs up and had no problem selling it, to a dude. Go original.

well, yesterday I told my painter to go original. I hope I'm not stuck with a sale-proof car.

FWIW I would buy a "pink" 911t over a silver or black one. Part of the charm of the old cars is how well they carry the unique colours they were offered in

another person who would take pink over red, white, black, or silver.
If it was arrow blue (or any other signal color) I'd be seriously drooling..... I think original is the correct choice, and I think you'll like the finished product. |

yup Fraise...
well the car is painted & ready for cut & polish. After that, it will be reassembled with all new rubber seals. I'll see if I can swing by the shop & shoot some pics. BTW, it's F'n pink!

Here's another bright pink color for you - 'magenta' , available from 1974 - 77 (maybe other years ?) . Also known as "Karminrot" (DE) , "Rouge Carmin (Fr.) , "Rosso Fuscia" (It.)
Again , if you want to get some eyeball. This color will achieve that feat also. VERY successfully. 1974 UK carrera 2.7 :
