911 SC Cab--Should I Buy It?

911 SC Cab. Red with black leather. 77k miles with service history. Top in good shape. Everything works including AC. Car looks and drives great. Is it worth $10K if it passes a PPI? Will see it this weekend.

If condition is consistent with a well maintained low mileage car, then yes

It sounds like a good deal even if you have to sort some items out. After you get the PPI done you should post what issues, if any, were found and maybe some of us can offer up estimates to what some of those may cost to fix. One thing I would like to bring to your attention is that if some of the interior and exterior lights are not working...do not assume it's "just" a bulb, it might be as simple as that but it also may be that the grounds have oxidized and the accessories are having to draw too many amps to function and the end result are blown bulbs. You don't want to see my receipts for what it cost to reground every exterior light ans several interior as well...and I thought it was just a simple bulb replacement. Good luck

Sounds like a deal to me....

I think the last air cooled cabriolets were finished to a very high standard.

The bonus for SC's were the relative lack of power equipment (top/seats/locks) to crap out and cost money to repair - not to mention additional weight.

It sounds like a good deal to me. I wish I had waited a year when I bought my SC coupe, there are better deals out there now. The going rate for a fairly nice example was $10k (with more miles) when I made the plunge (November '09).

The SC/Carrera cabriolets are nice driving cars. I'd bet in 10 years (unless we have a real economic meltdown here, which is possible) you will double your money. Just look at what open 356's bring, and these 911's offer real performance and are much better drivers than those (albeit nice looking) relics....

Absolutely worth 10K if it checks out (assuming this is a factory 83 SC cab).

Because of the car, the seller or the buyer?
