Sum of the parts worth more than the whole?

I appreciate all the information on this site and need advice.
I've got a 77 targa that drives very well but has rust and oil leaks.
My question is: Is it worth more in parts than it is as a whole. I already know It's not worth the cost to repair the rust and I don't want to just
cover it up to sell the car.

A little bit of rust? Completely rotted?

Oil leaks are a smaller concern compared to rust and many are an easy fix.

It looks to be fairly stock and original which is good. The rust in the rockers is not good but the rest of the car didn't seem that bad at all.

Yeah, the oil leaks can be fixed in a weekend.

The rust could take a little longer

Parts will bring higher return..... Motor alone could go for 3k.... Targa top etc...... Wheels.....

The car, an unloved middie, will be worth under $ten as is...

It probably deserves to live........

That rust looks bad. I would check under the battery and that area. I know a guy who did the correct repair for that area to a 77 himself, and he said it was an nightmare and he wouldn't do it again (not to mention it is a grand just for the replacement panel).
