Rust - get rid of the black one. The seats are nice but they need to be redone.
The 84 has some flaws but it is a very nice driver, with the lower miles and prettier color I'd easily keep that one. Are you sure that's an 84? The seats and steering wheel are from an 85 (or later). Perhaps an 84 build date..?

Which one do you love? Or is there another car out there that you could love than these two cars combined?

the rust on the black car isn't as bad as it appears. as lot of that redness is the glue from the rubber trim. plus i have the replacement panels so really i just need to get the car to a welder to have them swapped. the bubbling on the rear is not through the metal yet and as long as it's done soon it could just be ground down and filled. the fender would need a small patch though.
i would definitely get these things taken care of before putting up for sale or i'll take a beating on the price. for a small investment on my part i can save a lot of aggravation when it comes time to sell. so... which car do i love more, it's hard to say. i've owned the black one for a year and truly like it. that is the car i had been wanting for a long time. i agree though that while the g50 is nice, the 915 in the grey car shifts just fine. i also find that the 915 is more of a driver's car which you have to learn it's sweet spots and drive it as it likes to be driven where anyone can hop in and drive the g50. I haven't had the grey car long so i don't have the emotional attachment to it yet. but as i sit here and type i look out the window and see it there in front of the house and it's really growing on me. i like the stance, the absence of the rear spoiler, and that color is oh so nice. the fuchs would definitely get swapped. i have many hours into those wheels. plus the tires are more worn than the black fuchs (on the grey car) which doesn't matter because i have a set of new tires anyway just waiting to be mounted.

I personally love the slate grey with the cranberry interior combo. The 6x9 grills have got to go.

IMHO, consider selling both and picking up a 87-88 slate grey (or slate blue or marine blue) with black interior, sport seats and no rear spoiler. The selling and search is often the best experience. Best of luck. J

i have a clean florida title to the grey car. well, just out of my own curiosity i did a carfax on the grey car and it turns out it was issued a rebuilt title in the early 90's up in new york. but i have a clean title from florida stating nothing about a rebuilt. can't see any major damage. the front up by the battery area looks repaired but the rest of the car is good. i would rather keep it than get beat up on the price. that car is solid, runs strong and tight. i have alignment results from not long ago and it specs out fine. i really don't see any other evidence of damage. it was resprayed at some point and the paint looks great.
question is: how bad would this detail affect value on an otherwise perfectly good car?

Here's my perspective.
The increased access to information through the internet, carfax, and other recent technologies, has armed buyers with a lot of helpful knowledge. But it has also made the paranoid and it has structured the market so that small problems have magnified effects on price. In other words, as a buyer I personally may not care about a rebuilt title (because I can verify that it was only for minor damage), or a resprayed door (because it was just a keyed car), but the problem for me is my worry that then NEXT buyer (the one I am looking to sell to) will pass on my car or only buy it at a much lower price. And because of this, I will pass on the car I am looking at. I've been shopping for a car for a couple of months now and in my experience rebuilt titles have a BIG impact on price. |

the other option is to play dumb and say nothing. but that's not my style as you may have noticed by my even posting this discovery.
i seriously doubt the guy who sold it to me knew anything about it. as far as he knew he had a clean title in hand. sucks for me though. too bad, now i have a beautiful, strong, tight, solid car that i have to drive to the ground..... i could think of worse things good thing i got it cheap ![]()
