Pricing guidance on a 2012
I'd like to ask for some opinions on a somewhat unique situation. I'm interested in buying a new 991 S coupe. I drove one the other day at a dealership in NJ and to say that I was blown away would be an understatement, but that's another thread.
So interestingly the owner of the dealership has the exact model, color, options, interior, etc that I want. My salesman mentioned this to him and he's more then willing to sell me his car...not surprisingly. It will have approximately 2500 miles on the odometer. Any thoughts from the group on what sort of discount I should be looking for. The sticker on the car is $110k brand new. Thanks. Adam

Discount? Dealer has likely never titled the car, so it will have full factory warranty, and they will be loathe to give you any sort of discount for a mere 2500 miles on the "exact model, color, options, interior, etc" that you want.

Thanks both. My gut was to throw out a $100k offer and see what sticks. I recognize it is a bit of a ridiculous discussion at this kind of money, however my thinking was the same, a used car is a used car afterall. I could sit at his desk, build a new one and wait the 6-8 weeks and at that point would receive a car with zero miles...

My sources indicate that dealers in major markets are selling the new 991 at MSRP and are able to pack some dealer-installed "extras" into the sale to generate a few dollars of additional profit. While the car may have 2500 miles, it is essentially new, and as you have indicated to us and, presumably, to the salesman as well, it is the exact color and model that you seek. Many buyers would pay a premium to be the first one on the block with a new model in the color and options of their choice, and the dealer knows this. Please let us know how it turns out.

Will do. I'm flexible, it was just ironic that I would have built a car just as the owner's was spec'ed out (without knowing that his was built that way, was not on property that day).
My salesman mentioned that to the dealership owner and he offered his up if I wanted to buy it now instead of waiting. Going to talk to them again tomorrow, will report back.

$10K discount plus the first service. Also any little scratches and one minute door ding fixed. Additionally one rim has a scratch and it will be replaced.

Thanks, picking it up next week. My business partner also bought their dealer demo, "launch car" cabriolet with only 2300 miles, fully loaded with goodies for also at a $10K discount. My salesguy had a very good day yesterday!
