It is ugly and says "player" but ...

It isn't a horrible deal at $7500.

Corvette engine and appears to be in good shape. I wouldn't mind taking it for a test run.

Jim Richards 08-29-2012 04:01 AM

My eyes!

Tippy 08-29-2012 04:05 AM

That's a parts car at this point......

Why?
Because I'd like to feel how a 911 drives with a Corvette engine. And I'd like to see how the engine integration was done. Never know what you might learn.

It would be worth it just to see the heart attacks it would give the more 'stick-in-the-mud', pretentious PCA members.

Wonder how much rust is hidden under that fiberglass...

tomphot 08-29-2012 05:13 AM

I wonder how the "stero" works?

5String43 08-29-2012 06:09 AM

Yes, and what an absolutely gorgeous "Corvette" engine, too. Carburetor and all. Vettes have used efi for, what, 20 years now or so?

nvnovrts 08-29-2012 06:30 AM

Dont hate 'THE PLAYER", hate the game.

Slow Steve 08-29-2012 06:34 AM

I have to admit that my initial impression was "damn! Some people need to keep their negative opinions to themselves." Proceeded by "wait until I start on my ice green 911" BUT then I looked at the ad and then "DAMN! .... nevermind, that thing is !" Did you guys see the vert? Well here let me show you: ;)

Is it the area?

1967 Porsche Convertible

sc_rufctr 08-29-2012 06:38 AM

The wheels look interesting... Are they 15s? Some deep dish on the rears!

ThomO 08-29-2012 06:42 AM

Anybody have any eye bleach I left mine at home

will hung 08-29-2012 06:49 AM

Until recently, the only thing different between a 327ci or 350ci Chevy engine and a Corvette engine was the internals. So it isn't inconceivable that this engine is "Corvette spec" if it isn't a Corvette engine. I just don't think it makes sense to put any iron block V8 into the back of a 911.

I really would like to know what movie set this car was built for.

The movie was "Cool as Ice" starring Vanilla Ice. This was the reject.

If a V8 is good enuff for RUF, why not?

RUF Automobile GmbH - RGT-8

CCM911 08-29-2012 07:04 AM

I have seen a lot worse. Much worse. My only comment on this is - if you are trying to sell your car, wouldn't you at least vacuum it out before taking pictures?

GEE - motorcycle dude..You might need more down force in the rear than a whale tail has to offer ...........

looks like "fun" to ride - if you have recently been diagnosed with flesh eating brain tumor bacterias

rw7810 08-29-2012 07:24 AM

are there any OEM parts left on it ?? I was surprised to lean that a P-car flat 6 weights more than a V8.

sobamaflyer 08-29-2012 07:42 AM

If both of these cars actually sell the value of mine has just doubled :)

"The Player" isn't nearly as bad as that poor '67 but it looks odd from every angle, like a "Cars" car body is on it.

I'm not nearly as put off by the 350 as by the overall quality & shape of the rest of the car.

The Porsche convertible is just silly. The vommit Porsche is another league.

Which movie did it star in? Revenge of the Nerds Part trois?

I did wince when I saw that color. Just nasty.

stephenacworth 08-29-2012 08:46 AM

This has to be, just about the most horrible thing that you could do a a P-car ever...

OttoB 08-29-2012 09:07 AM

I was not talking color . I was referring to the tuner "Vommit tuning" out of Ra-thole, North-Korea. They have quite a production number for such a small outfit. Must be that they are efficient...

Anyway, I can appreciate certain contraptions not on looks but on execution, but this one is gold medallist on fuglieness.

Please tell me you researched that and didn't know it off the top of your head . . . .

kidrock 08-29-2012 07:41 PM

holy schitt, that's a keeper. I just spit Pepsi all over my keyboard. I'm keeping that on my computer's desktop for future "Playa" referencing.

ShakinJoe 08-29-2012 07:47 PM

Those are 11 x 15's on the rear of that car. Hmmmmmm.

kach22i 08-30-2012 04:20 AM

It could be fun to buy this car and reskin it with some modified VW Beetle body panels or Karmann Ghia panels.

As a donor you could not get much out of it, the engine, body and interior are all non-stock.

I don't even think it has a stock gas tank, did you see the open hood photo?

A couple of flag mirrors at best.

I think the tail might make it worse. its so far to the rear it may lift the front.

JohnJL 08-30-2012 04:55 AM

Ow my retinas.

Vereeken 08-30-2012 05:37 AM

I can imagine the discussion in the edit department of the award winning blockbuster "Cool as Ice". Says the editor to the director, would you like me to cut out that turd or leave it in for shock value?

Well they had to leave Vanilla Ice in for a few scenes, I mean they named the movie after him.
