"Not going in the Poo porsche"
Just reading the thread on the re done white 75 Carrera, there seemed to be a lot of back and forth about the color change from brown to white. And it seems the PO painted it after some disparaging comments.. My daughter always called my survivor SC the 'Poo Porsche' and she prefers riding in moms car, I remember a colleague having his Cockney brown 77 painted red back in 93, because he couldn't stand the jibes about the flying turd.
What really got me wondering was after I was down at the local dealership and saw both a 991 and a Cayanne in what looks like either Tobacco or Copper brown, and both my wife and now older daughter raved about the color and said they thought it was the nicest color on a vehicle in there. My wife actually made an appointment to go back on Tuesday for a test drive, on the (CPO) Cayanne, unfortunately I can't afford the 991, and besides if I could Id never let the bloody dog in it. Do people actually like the browns again ? It used to be a good negotiating tool to get a cheaper car when black red and silver were the acceptable colors ? I thought brown was relegated to cheap old farts like me who still remember wearing brown polyester flares.

Browns *are* back in style now. While the four common colors still are the best with new or newer owners, the unusual colors get more attention from the Pelican crowd.
I think that longhoods and mid-year cars look great in non-metallic browns. |

I like the browns and I see brown cars selling pretty routinely in the market if they are decently priced. I don't think brown is a color that ads value though. As far as back and forth on color change I think you would get that with ANY color change. I know I wouldn't buy a car that wasn't the original color unless it was a hotrod.

Brown is definitely back. While I like the brown exterior colors on the new Porsches, I wouldn't buy one. It will look dated in 10 - 15 years. The brown interiors are gorgeous, I like those quite a it.

I had a 2008 carrera in macadamia. It was beautiful when the sun hit it just right. Kinda reminded me of root beer

Personally I am a huge fan of brown on a 911.

Brown differs a lot in the Porsche palette. Mine is more orangy than brown in the traditional sense - but still brown (L524) "Caramel poo".

We sold a brown middie to an Austrian guy a few months ago and he was thrilled to find such an original, and brown, car. Brown is the new white. Or red. Or black. -- Matt

Sepia is the original "poo" color. Sepia was Dr. Porsches favorite color so much so he painted his 928 Sepia. As a Sepia owner, the color grows on you. Its rich, deep and not striking like the electric blues, viper green, bright orange or lemon yellow that were the big colors back in the early to mid-70's. Many claim that Sepia is a "deal killer" on re-sale. Well, times have changed and I expect that if I put my 1973.5T up for sale, the car would be well received. Browns are back in..................after all, if I were running down the road against a Guards red 911, as beautiful as that color is, guess who gets the speeding ticket first? Sepia, is rather stealthy.

You made me laugh as I had a Olive Green 911 and it is not really green in color. Anyway, my kids still to this day refer to it as the poopie car. Kids are honest but I loved the color.

Brown...
I like brown, I'd much rather have any shade of brown 911 than any shade of red 911...
