Colors?
I've spent the last week searching for used 964 or 993. I noticed the vast majority are red, black or silver. Some dark blue, dark green and a few white.
I would love to find speed yellow or signal green (was that ever even available?) Any thoughts out there on how the color affects the price? And what are the chances of finding these colors? |

There are yellow ones out there and the pastel yellow is very rare. Adventurine green (dark) is fairly common but I don't believe Signal green was every produced except maybe a few custom orders perhaps.

Thanks. How much do you think it devalues a car (if at all) to intentionally repaint it another Porsche color?

Depends on the caliber of car, and more importantly, the quality of the paint job.
If you paint a red car green, and the painter leaves the glass in, doesn't remove trim, doesn't paint the engine bay, etc... I believe you'd moderately devalue the car. If it was done right, no shrinkage in the paint, no overspray, etc... then I don't think it hurts at all. |

Signal green or Viper green was available in 94 for the the 964. There was a Porsche poster with a car with that color. Dont imagine many were produced in this color. Remember some yellow speedsters as well.
The 993 was produced in Signal yellow as well. 993 was also painted in the very cool Maritim blau. Foget about finding one of either - and IF you did you could ad 50-75 % to the price over a car in an ordinary color, imo. |

Invest a little money in a Porsche library. There are many books that will list colors for every year.

Any ideas as to what a high quality paint job should cost?

I was quoted 10 grand from a high end paint shop..I don't think that's far off for a high quality job. Tim

I would not paint the car a different color unless you want to keep it for ever. Much better to pay the premium to buy the car in the color you want if you can find it.

There was a 993 in viper green for sale here on pelican about a month ago. Was a repaint and asking in the low 30's if I remember. It was a very nice 993!

Signal Green was offered on the 964 there are a handful around but I do mean handful. I have also seen a 94 3.6 turbo in signal green and a 94 Speedster in Signal green and a 964 targa in signal green. Oak green was produced in higher numbers on the 964's.
I also saw that 993 which was color changed to viper green in the classifieds about 6 or 8 weeks ago.
