That's one of the ones I was thinking of, potentially a great deal. His phone number is in the ebay ad. He was looking for $16k for the complete chassis. Chances are you would work out a deal that would include the transmission for not too much more than that.

That is a good looking car, but I think that is out of my price range right now. I would need it with an engine cause I don't have room another car that doesn't drive.

you mentioned that an original flat 6 car is not in your budget. What exactly is your price-range? That might help narrow the search to cars you can afford, if that is possible.

If you are looking sub-$15k...and maybe even sub-$20k, it may be difficult -- if not impossible -- to find a running car that is good enough to be a daily driver while you finish your firebird.

Most re-engined cars in that price range appear to be unfinished.

You may need to start looking at 914's. I love the 914 though not everyone feels the same way.

The 914 seems to be the next beneficiary of rising air-cooled Porsche prices -- moreso than the water-cooled cars.

I bet prices are going to double in the next 1-2 years for the mid-range drivers that seem to have been changing hands in the $4-10k range for years.
