Yeah -- the poster Mang is a piece of work.

A curbstoner who pretends to be a newb "learning about his amazing new find he is going to cherish forever" -- while trying to simultaneously sell the car on another website (For Ferraris).

(Almost) Nobody here questions the legitimacy of making money dealing cars. It is the duplicity that is the issue. Why not come clean from jumpstreet? Why not do an introductory post like this:

"I just purchased a great condition early Long Hood T that has not been driven in a while. I plan to get the car in good running condition, protecting its originality, and then place it for sale. Would appreciate any advice from those familiar with these cars on areas I should address before marketing the car. I'm looking for upgrades, repairs, and maintenance items that offer the best return on investment for me and a prospective buyer. Thanks. Mang."

Is that really so hard?

Sure, some people may be unwilling to help a seller, but I expect folks would still offer advice, and would appreciate the candor.

And if he is looking for a "soft sell" -- then he is at least starting the contact relationship from a position of integrity, which is nice to see in a vehicle transaction.

Totally agree with this. Whats especially crazy is his distain for lowballers. Guess its only OK for him to low ball.

I've offered him some help, even though I called the flip immediately. You'll see that more than anything I had a problem with the chip on his shoulder. He and I made peace but with the resurgance of that thread I will be absent from the continuation.

I saw that.

The hilarious thing was that he tried to rehab himself after the first time he got called out -- like it was all a misunderstanding.

Then someone actually linked his posts on Ferrari chat trying to sell the car at the same time he was claiming "enthusiast" status on Pelican. And also called out his pattern of doing it -- it wasn't even his first time.

Amazing that he still had the nerve to try to defend his behavior.

Fellas, i wish this thread had found its way here instead of the wrong section. I posted on both Ferrari chat and here AT THE SAME TIME, was just excited, yes wanna keep it, yes, of course wanna maximize profit if I flip it, not sure how it will play out. I have other cars and thought of shuffling plans to sell another, so I can keep this one. Yeah, my own confusion, but why so difficult for you all to understand?

Again, I've apologized for pissing everyone off and understand better now. Still don't know what to say or do to make it better. Can't go back in time and adjust where and how I worded things, so now stuck?

That's the problem when you cause people to question your integrity. There is no reset button. Even on the Internet.

BTW -- I have no sour grapes over your car. I have one I really like myself. You should think long & hard about selling it, as they are not getting easier to acquire, your experience notwithstanding.

I honestly don't know where I've shown a lack of integrity? I mentioned keeping or selling in the very first post? It was just in the wrong place? And yes, I do struggle with wanting to keep it, I know I'll never replace it if I sell, but I have another Porsche I decided to keep a year ago. I look back on all the posts and still don't know how this has got so much attention? I struck a vein in all the wrong places - pick a controversial subject; flipping, low balling, valuation....tough topics, but still don't know where I've lied or insulted anyone with any of it.

The chip from Lowballers was something I regret showing and took accountability with. I just had the lowball lesson a year ago when I was looking at a legit $100k 930, offering it for $69k and couldn't get anyone to stop being so short sighted and buy the damn thing at a more than fair price. And when I wouldn't accept their price, they were insulting and rude and trashed the car?

"Mang (caste)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Māng musicians with drums (Russell, 1916)
The Mang or Matang (Minimadig in Gujarat and Rajasthan) community is an Indian caste, historically associated with low-status or ritually impure professions such as village musicians, cattle castraters, leather curers, midwives, hangmen, undertakers, and criminals.[1] In the modern day they are listed as a Scheduled Caste, a designation which has replaced the former term Untouchable."

Does this caste now also include vintage car flippers?

Probably to yank chains, stir up some barking, and then feign ignorance as to his role in the resulting noise pollution!

Ronnie, I had expected some sarcasm or some below the waist humor from you. That is what the barn finder needs - Are you allright?

As far as the guy who inspired this thread, well, given that his have been battered about quite a bit as of late, their "original condition" lowness will probably be difficult to judge!

Edited to minimize banability!

Boy they are really hating on us over at Ferrari Chat. Now some other plonker has jumped in to defend Mang (the Mercilous promoter) and agree on how Pelicans are evil . Maybe its time to send PML over
there to give them some advice on values !
