Isn't that considered a screaming deal here? What are bidders seeing that is not being told? Or is the market softening?

I think Pelican is a mere sliver of the real market. And a distorted one at that.

His MO is to cause pain. He wants to say all kinds of stupid stuff to get people to respond, because he's just trolling the forums.

He has no intentions of seeing any cars, buying any cars or doing anything other than wasting the time of PP members for his own entertainment.

Indeed, Pulling My Pud is not here to buy a car. We should all disabuse ourselves of that notion and either treat him as entertainment (court jester, at best) or ignore him.

Wow, A 1988 G50 coupe with under 110k miles doesn't get a bid over $22k?
No story has been posted. Didn't meet reserve. I bet the flipper is shocked.
Yes, Ebay is not the market, but it damn well reflects general trends of 100's of potential buyers.

This was unheard of during the winter when supply was negligible.
The market has certainly softened. There is absolutely no denying it.

How funny. a year of trolling ebay and you still don't understand how the reserve bidding system works.

Maybe the car didn't meet the ~$29k reserve because anybody who is interested could have bought it under $24k two weeks ago. Or maybe because, in your own words:

Quote:
1) Guy buys 911 and sells it only 1 year later? What's wrong with the car? Something doesn't add up.
2) Bad repaint.
3) No service history
4) A/C dismantled ?
5) Needs clutch (yet PO did clutch?)
6) Fake fuchs
7) Leaks oil
8) Smokes
9) Has tail. ($1000 to remove/replace lid)

Quiz for PML -- this Black 1986 Coupe with 103k miles is sitting at $29,999, reserve met, with 13 bids and 5 days yet to go on the auction. No mention of any major engine or transmission work. A/C disconnected.

Porsche 911 Carrera | eBay

Doesn't seem logical, does it?

Apart from the lack of spoilers and a G50 vs 915, can you discern the difference between this car and the '87? Can you explain why one might be selling at a premium compared to the other?

Prove you have some interest in learning something, rather than just being a gadfly.

In the OP, I see some sort of funky wiring going on, leaky sunroof water damage, and a completely unknown status on rust/engine.

That said, given the current market, I'm shocked it isn't sold already.

COLB,
  1. 1 owner.
  2. 100% original
  3. 100% service records
  4. No tail.
  5. Fewer miles.

In this '86, the original owner was meticulous.
Borne out in that log book in the first video.

Easily the difference b/w a $25k car and a $30k car.

What's your take on why the '86 is so good,
or why the G50 was so bad? ($22k!! Wow)

The '86 is good for the reasons you mentioned, except for the fewer miles. I doubt the difference between the odometers on the two cars is enough to be relevant -- except the mileage for the '86 is much better documented.

The G50 car isn't bad -- it was a solid car at $24k.

And for $5k an individual buyer could have fixed the items that are dragging it down -- then it would be worth $29k, and would sell at that number quickly.

But the dealer who bought it didn't invest any money to fix anything -- he just washed and waxed it, slapped on some Armor All, and jacked up the price. I expect he will still sell at and make some money, but it may take a while to find the right punter who doesn't get the details.

I would say the previous owner knew what his car was worth, priced it accordingly, and sold it at a number that was good for the seller and the buyer. Two weeks later, it should come as no surprise that even ebay buyers don't consider a wax job to be worth an extra 6 grand.

But the Ebay buyers have no idea of the Pelican thread for the car.
Frr Ebay, the car is presented as a clean no stories G50 coupe.
And it only got a 2nd highest bid of $22k.
In fact, it presents much better on Ebay now than the Pelican ad for $24k.
Better photos and no issues disclosed whatsoever.

This is why I concluded the market has changed

Right. Because EBay shoppers never contact the seller and ask questions. they never do vin searches or carfax reports. EBay buyers are a bunch of ignorant rubes just buying on a whim because a car is pretty.

Why on earth would you assume that? How many clueless rubes are dropping $30k on cars without doing a minimum of research?

Besides -- the issues with the car are still apparent, even though the dealer flirts with dishonesty throughout the ad.

So it is. One wonders where he acquired the "full service history" since the previous owner had none of it, other than word of mouth.

A simple phone call will likely shine light on this falsehood. Would you bid without calling the dealer?

Regardless, the issues with the car are still easily visible. Fake Fuchs, aftermarket wheel, MAF (which some may or may not have an issue with), disconnected A/C, etc.

A cleaner car with better presentation can definitely squeeze out a higher price, which is why I think the car will eventually sell well north of $24k.

But lack of disclosure is not the same thing as a "no issues" car -- and there are enough obvious question marks about the car, the dealer, and the ad to keep this from being a slam dunk at that price.
