$6k 930 hulk... Dumb?

I have located a 1986 930 with no rear pan, no interior, and no suspension. It was a race car that went off the track and the front end got submerged in a lake (!?). It's got a salvage CA title.

I'm being told it is otherwise in fantastic condition. If we assume this is all correct, is $6,000 a fair price?

I'm looking for a roller to turn into a project, and the prospect of getting my hands onto a 930 is very appealing, but this is less than a roller. The lack of suspension and race history are making me wary.

It's a shell. They've taken off everything you could possibly remove. They're telling me it's straight and rust and dent free. I asked for a lower price or for the suspension off another car they have that was t-boned at the driver's door.

Wow, ambitious project! I don't think all the time and effort spent will be worth it... $6k for a salvage title shell seems kinda high to me~ For the money it will take to make it run, buy something that's already running.

The race history seems less troubling than the crash history. What do you WANT to do? If you know you're signing up for a fool's errand (at least from a financial standpoint), is that what you want? Do you just want the project and the blank canvas?

Basically, yes.

I did this with my '66 Corvair Monza. We bought it for a dollar. It was being used as a chicken coup, but at least it had a suspension.

What does no rear pan mean?

If you pass, please give me contact info. I'm a fool. I like running errands.

My chicken coop is made out of crates used to ship large quantities of differentials and gears.

Roller $6000
Engine + tranny 18000
Suspension $5000+
wheels $2000+
Everything else 6000
So far were around $38 for a salvage 930 with hundreds of hours of work- it will prob cost even more. Not worth it.
