It's simple used car dealer prices are inflated, their warranties generally meaningless and I don't need someone to hold my hand whilst buying a car. I've had and still have Porsches all 911s I haven't overpaid since the very first one. I wouldn't buy from EBay, and I don't need you to walk me through these posts ...

Very fair points - buying from a dealer is clearly not the least expensive way to buy a car like that. I knew I would pay more at a dealer but still bought a dealer car because:

1. They had what I wanted after only a few months of researching and scanning ads every day. I wasn't willing to wait three years for the right car to appear on C List down the street. I live in the Midwest - not a lot of air cooled Porsches out here.

2. Dealer was only two hours away. No need to fly or take a chance and buy sight unseen.

3. Dealer had a solid reputation and has ben in business for a while.

I maybe spent an extra 10% to buy from a dealer and that was covered quickly by the appreciation in the market. I would have lost that appreciation if I waited another year for the perfect car to come along. Dealers are also convenient as heck: you can show up to look a the car anytime you want, wiring money to them is easy and picking up the car is easy and they even had tags for me when I picked it up.

Like I said I don't hand wring about buying cars or pay for the privallage of being stroked. I wouldn't pay that much for a GR coupe and don't pat yourself on the back too hard, if I told you what I paid for my barn find the current sale profit it would make your head spin. I'm old and I've been in the hobby long enough to have seen this crazy demand before. In a couple of seasons this will adjust and some people will be left with thier recent purchases being worth much less than they thought. At the end of the day it's about the driving experience and how simple it is to work on. That's what makes the 911 such a special car, not the $ value

What's a privallage?

Obviously you have nothing better to do than wander around the internet correcting spelling mistakes. Jeez what a waste of time.

Sorry. Life is too short to read such a convoluted post. I got to the part where it became clear you are just blowing hot air and can't be bothered to write in English and just quit reading.

Yeah but you think what you have to say is so important you had to write something. Trouble is you can't even get your own one liners, and your contribution is not contextual.

Actually I've just tired of how snarky people have become towards each other around here and was having a little fun. Sorry you don't know how to laugh at yourself...

Blah blah blah
Like I said,
Overvalued.

Wholesale vs retail pricing is one way to read it.

Something we agree on.

Agh!!! Perhaps I'm the only English language freak in the crowd but, if a car is priced higher than what the market will bear, it's overpriced and not overvalued. Certainly it could be argued that many Porsches are both right now.

Not the only grammar nazi on board. That's why privallage got my attention. You don't have to be rich and ivy school to use our language properly.

Maybe "privallage" indicates acreage in a privately owned valley?!

I would think that would be a privillage. Then one could proclaim themselves Le Count De Carrera.

I like the sound of that.

"Eric, Le Count De Carrera".

Yup, sounds much better than "Ronnies.930, Pelican Parts Douchenozzle".

Matt Monson 08-11-2014 06:03 PM

If you oversee a village you have minions. If you have a private valley you oversee a bunch of rabbits and sparrows and a few deer.

Ronnie's.930 08-11-2014 07:22 PM

Only those with certain errr, ummmm "deficiencies" in both body and mind would want minions!

And what about all of the included valley girls? I realize that Eric is not interested in female types, and Matt has demonstrated extremely questionable tastes in same, but come on!?!?

RacerX1166 08-12-2014 04:21 AM

What self respecting evil overlord (something I've been endearingly referred to by my staff) would be expected to perform the grunt work associated with world domination?

Minions have their place, for sure and I've earned the privillage.
