Sell?
Thinking about selling my 1985 euro cab.
Have been advised to hang on to it....value going up. Your thoughts, please.

What motivates you to sell?
You want to know what it is worth? Then you need to describe and photograph the car more. Otherwise we are of less use than a Hagerty value guide. |

I have advised a friend of mine with an 87 cab to hold until at least spring. We are In south florida and while the market down here is great for these cars, we can sell to many more people, not dealers or brokers when things warm up in the northern states.
Not sure if value is going up per se, but a larger market generally creates more demand and you know how that system works! |

The narrow cabriolet is timeless and gorgeous. They were made in smaller numbers, were expensive, and are the last of the fully analog hand made Porsches. A tripple black one is a blue chip car.
If you don't need to, don't sell it, it will perform better than most stocks in the next few years. Did I mention that I love the tripple black? Last edited by Nachtfalter; 12-03-2014 at 06:26 PM.. |

She's a beauty but she ain't triple black. Interior appears dark red or burgundy. Really nice combo.

Now accepting US $ at par

Hang onto it. It's the wrong time of year and sellers and buyers aren't meeting in the marketplace.

Sell. This is a great time to sell. Time of year, spring or winter, it doesn't matter. There are 100s of buyers out there for this car.

The market at an all time high on these cars. Will it go higher? Maybe but its moved a heck of a lot in the past 18 months. I have been tempted to sell my car... but what would I replace it with? The alfa gtv 2000 market has moved big too and thats really the only other car I am considering.

If u don't have to sell it, hang on and enjoy. You don't know what you have til it's Gone |

The 3.2's have very little to compete with for driving pleasure and quality and will continue to go up in value because of it. A fully sorted clean one, like this looks to be, is arguably one of the best cars ever made. |

If it looks like a bubble, and smells like a bubble, it may well be a bubble. Many here can remember what happened to similar 'semi' collectible cars in the early nineties. The question is: Do you have someplace else you would rather put the money?

+1 Especially the bubble part, though they can go on for a LOT longer than you would think.

If you're not driving it, sell it.
If you still love it, don't.

What "similar semi collectible cars" are we talking about? If you're talking the American muscle car bubble, there is a huge difference. Those cars were built in the hundreds of thousands. Air cooled 911s were build if far far less quantities. There have been people claiming the 356 bubble burst. Good luck finding one. I have been looking for one myself and they definitely have not dropped in value. Air cooled 911s are not going down any time soon barring some sort of economic crash etc.

You won’t see much depreciation in these cars. The prices may not climb at the rate they have over the last 18 months but you’re not going to see prices fall drastically.
Muscle cars had huge appreciation in the early 2000’s and people paid silly prices for some of the rare ones. Those guys who paid hundreds of thousands for hemi this and that because they were 1 of 3 in a color or had the rare special turn signal stalk are taking it on the chin. The rest of those cars had a nice appreciation and have pulled back but the cars what were 5$50k cars and became $150k cars are still $120k cars. Like I said, I think the market levels out somewhat but you’re not going to pick up an RSA with 60 or 70k miles for $40 or $50 grand anymore. You won’t see 20k miles G50 coupes for $30k anymore. The market went up at a pace it probably can’t keep up but it’s not coming down at that pace. None of these generic 911’s went from $50k to $500k like the Ferrari’s did in the 1990’s. It’s ashamed but the air cooled cars went from iconic hobbyist cars to collector cars. The market hot right now, it will cool some but they’re now collector cars till the end. Sort of sucks because many of my favorites like the 70 to 74 Alfa GTV2000, the BMW 2002 and the e30 M3 have done the same and they're not going to be cars that I pick up and keep for a year to have some fun with.
