First one does seem to be very nice, that interior is a love or hate though. The 2nd and 3rd seem to be way overpriced, not that special. Market does seem to be putting a big premium on low mileage examples.

Only the First targa looks like an original car that commands a premium. But 50k is too steep, imo. Maybe high 30's.
The other two look like below average unoriginal cars. Not interesting at all, imo. |

Correct.
Good luck getting plus $30's for a Targa, especially an SC. $40 plus is just somebody blowing smoke.

The bubble will eventually burst when these air cooled late comers with more money than brains get bored and move on to the next best thing. I find it hard to believe that the market will continue to bear such rapid growth and be able to sustain at these levels. The 911 is an enthusiasts car to the core, and the folks paying astronomical prices to jump in the game this late are largely people who are new to the hobby and have buckets of cash sitting around and nothing better to spend it on. They'll dump their 911s when the next fad hits. At that point when 911 SCs come back down to $15k I'll be laughing at the fools paying $40k. In fact, patience and a lucky find on Craigslist can still yield a nice SC in the high teens.

Good point about the number of cars being exported these days. Ask yourself this qustion though. How many air cooled 911s were imported and sold in th US and how many are exported annually? I'd hazard a guess that we still haven't exported a number of air cooled 911s from all years that would equal one years sales of air cooled SCs. People are panicking due to the frenzy, but there are plenty of air cooled cars out there to be had, and to be had at a really nice price. |

OK. Maybe that $50K silver/ can-can red SC Targa is a bit of a chick car, and your wife would love it for Christmas. But upgrade it to a Carrera and a cab, and it becomes a real man's car for sure

Don’t expect a huge popping of any bubble, the new era of pricing is here and it’s staying. You won’t see the massive appreciation we have seen over the last 18 months. Come to terms with the fact that these cars have now become collector cars and not hobbyist’s cars. Low miles cars in good condition are not going to drop in price. The more rare models, Speedster, RSA etc. etc. are already off the charts.
Unfortunately the market for cars is not as transparent at the capital markets, there is no “time and sales” data and we only get to see the offer side of the market. I agree, asking is not getting. I also believe in most cases when these cars disappear from the market place the dealer who asked the high price gets somewhere fairly close. I wouldn’t expect that a dealer offering a car for $45k is taking $35k unless the cars been sitting around for a long long time. Oh and yea I know it’s the internet and I am going to get dozens of posts from people who will tell me they bought cars offered at $45k for $10 or more k under the asking price… It’s the internet.
