Brought for 23k

Trying for 42k {what a joke}

The tiptronics don't have near the market that the manuals do. If the market has moved too much for some buyers on the manual cars, I don't think the tiptronic cars is an alternative they are looking for. If it were me and I the market had moved such that I cant afford the car any longer, I would not be looking at a slightly less expensive tiptronic version. There are too many other cars that are desirable which are still manuals. Thats just me. I think driving the tip is nothing that great.

Yeah, the tip trans is a bummer but that's a nice car for 20k.....I love the colors a lot. I wonder why no one is just happy with that price and just enjoy the car. Oh well, I guess.

Agree 100%

However, I am now looking for a 993 cab with a "tip" for the wife.

With all the scumbag dealers and front yard flippers now the fun is almost gone for me.
I have enjoyed Porsches for over 25 years.
Met some really great guys during my time, but can see the end of the road for them with me.

When you can buy a brand new 435 hp Mustang for less than a 87 Carrera it makes me wonder alittle bit.

Agreed. I have been seriously considering a 2005 997 with replaced IMS bearing. For $35k you can get a 45,000 mile car. Great performance for the dollar in my opinion. Even if water cooled.............

That is where I am at too except looking at an '06 (no IMS issue for an '06?) Supply seems pretty good too.

Might want to double check that regarding 2006. My understanding is that all 997.1 engines 2005-2008 are prone to eventual failure. The 2006-2008 cars do not have a replaceable bearing which in my opinion makes them less desireable than a 2005. Prove me wrong and I will be a happy man because there are indeed many 2006-2007 cars that are great deals right now.

Which begs the question. How long can the air cool craze keep the prices of 997 cars so low? $35k is a steal for a 2005-2008 car and there are many to be had at that price.

Good points and I will check. I know it applies to Boxsters, at least that is what I read on the internet

True but a crazy air cooled market forces buyers into Porsches they can afford and we need to justify our choices .

I didn't say HP performance. I said "performance", in general. The 997 is a beast in all areas of performance. My point is that if you want a 911 and $35k+ for a mid 80's coupe with 100k on the clock seems absurd, you can't go wrong with an '05 997 with upgraded IMS bearing. The water pumpers look better every day, and I am an air cooled Porsche guy.........

They will 'perform' as well as the Carrera if you discount hp.
I thought these were pushing $30k USD now for a decent one.
