Value of Fuch wheels 16x7 and 16x8 Date Matching

My friend was interested in purchasing my spare wheels, but wasn't sure what the market is for them. They're in decent condition, maybe 7/10?

2 wheels:
911361020 [44] 16 x 7
AS1062_28139a
date code: 2779 / 2879

2 wheels:
911361020 [45] 16 x 8
AS1062_28139a
date code: 3479 / 3579

Looks like they're a matching set for a 79, but he's going to run them on his bug. Don't know if it'd make more sense to sell them on here, and then find him a non-matching year set or what.

Thanks in advance!

To my knowledge, 16s were not made in 1979...

Sure they were, my 78SC came stock with 6&7X16 Fuchs, the 7&8x16 were stock on the 930s.

You may be right, my recollection of my 78 930 is a bit fuzzy. Pretty sure 16s were still a rare option on SCs... but that was a long time ago.

EDIT: found this:

Rusty... yeah, that's it. :-)

Porsche bounced back and forth on wheel diameters - the Weissach edition, in 1980 - had 15" Fuchs.

Back to the OP's question, though: there is likely a small premium value on date match in this size. More pertinent will be the finish - whether the original clear anodize or polished or chromed.

For a given finish, the date match is probably worth +15% today; possibly more in future.

What would one expect to pay for a pair 16x8 in decent condition? I have 6, 16x7 but really want run 8s in the rear. Seems like real 16x9 are now pretty far out of reach at least for my budget.

Stock wheels on the SC's were not 16's they were cookie cutters, 16's were optional and the huge majority of cars built for stock or customer ordered came with 16 Fuchs 6 and 7.

I am looking for a single 16x6 if someone has one to sell. I dont care about the cosmetic condition as long as its not been chromed.

Those look pretty darn good. At lest 8/10. Date matched set, plus 16x8, I'd guess you should ask no less than $3000. My original thought was $2500, but the date-match means they are a set. And for the owner of a car built in 79, I'd add another $300 over the $3k figure.

Looks like they have not been painted, which is a good thing.

Beautiful wheels.

Those are nice wheels.. I'd take them if they were in Denver and I were returning my car to stock

Better off selling them instead of putting them on your friends beetle bug unless he's going to fork over the cash. They will sell quickly I think at the 3k mark.

Damn I should buy these and put them in storage just in case haha

Good luck!
