I pored over the receipts and most work was done 20 years ago. It also appears that 5th gear wasn’t changed out so it’s like a 4spd with overdrive, not my favorite type. You can see that the bang-up video does not include a shift to 5th.

It’s been for sale all over the place for over a YEAR. As predicted, the asking price is now at $9500, which is around 1/3 of the original $28,000 (lol) asking price. And still not selling. It’ll probably eventually sell for around $6k. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-cars-sale/1060869-brumos-924s-sale.html Last edited by McLovin; 08-03-2020 at 06:19 PM.. |

That thing pops up here again. Sheesh. Still overpriced. No matter how many plaques they stick on it.

I don’t know how someone has the patience to keep consistently marketing a car (esp. a very inexpensive one) for over a year. That’s amazing to me.

Same type of person that has the patience to keep a broken car in a barn for over 20 to 30 years. That’s amazing to me.

The problem he has is he's now splashed it all over the internet at some silly prices and its been debunked as a turd on a lot of sites. Seriously who would buy a car that's made the rounds like this one and had prices in $20's down to current levels? Unless you're buying it for a few grand as a project its not going to sell. Ashamed. Could be a fun project for someone.

The problem is it's a 924. The stripes, stickers and Brumos name don't make it fast.
It might be an OK momentum car on the track, but around town driving would be lame.

The 88 was a 944 in a 924 body. You're right its not "fast" its not really even that "quick" but its a fun car to bang around in. To me thats a 2 grand or 2500 car. The miles are really over 200k the interior is shot, the paint is peeling etc etc etc etc etc etc. That's just my value on it.

Agree. The number of 964 targas made is really low and many of them weren’t loved. Nice ones get a premium.

There were just over 3300 964 targa's imported. Unlike the Coupes they weren't tracked or parted out as frequently. I suspect there are less than 2200 Coupes remaining of the 5106 imported in the US and about the same number of targas remaining. The demand for a Coupe in this condition is far greater but at 66k miles and no details what was actually done to an early engine and some questions I have about condition I would place this at a $65k targa tops. If it were a coupe and late MY 91 or newer in this condition with less miles it might see $85k but highly doubt it.
It is Velocity that is selling and I have been less than impressed by any car i saw they sold so possibly less for this than $65k if what I suspect is true. At 66k miles the car shouldn't need new body seals unless it sat outside and has been recently gussied up. I couldn't spend $10k on body seals with labor to install if I charged $200 an hour and paid over MSRP on the seals and that includes $2k for targa top restoration. The top on this car was redone but far from perfect. The front trunk seal is original and splitting at the corners, cracks in some plastic interior bits, the front dash is warped and there is a crack in the side door panel top. What really concerns me is the lower dash pushing into the door panel leaving an impression. This is a valid concern and I have only seen when there was something not straight about the car. So needs investigating. Front seats have been reworked. The windshield has been replaced, improperly installed and you can see the radio antenna has not been inserted into the amplifier and just tucked under the corner to hide it along with that aftermarket radio. Also check out the gaps by the engine lid something isn't right. No underbody shots?? I can go on about many other things I see but I suspect if you gave me this car for an hour I would find much more to question. If this were an all original late MY targa with <30k miles without any of the questionable issues I see I could see $85k asking but this price is more than optimistic IMO.

What's a "reasonable" price to pay for a 993 coupe with 40-100k miles? Looking for a good car that's been taken care of. I have a number in my head but just curious what others think.

Doesn’t matter what we think. If you find a car you like and think it’s worth it, then it is.
