Price check on isle 4
Hi folks. I wonder if could get a reality check from the valuation experts. Hypothetically, the car is a G50 sunroof coupe. Totally original. Paint is an uncommon desirable color. The finish has a few flaws but presents as excellent overall. The interior is in overall excellent condition with some wear/scuffing to the driver's seat. There is complete documentation of service history. The car has ~ 100,000 miles. There's been no major mechanical work and no mods (either good or bad). The body is straight with zero rust.
What's the number? Are there material considerations I'm missing? Thanks for all of your information.. Steve |

Yes, there are still things to consider. Has the car spent its life with one owner or six? What part of the country has it lived in? Is it complete with books, tool kit, unused spare, etc?
Depending on the answers the car could be anywhere from $45 K to 75 K in my view. EDIT: following further review, I must agree with others that my range is over the top, currently. Top of the price range is probably in the low to mid 60's unless it happens to be the best G50 Carrera in the world...;(

What is the "uncommon, desirable color"?
All gauges work? What is the state of the A/C? Intact? Working? Updated? That can be work +/- $2-3k in my view, especially on a coupe. Do you have any sense of oil consumption? I mean like a log -- not an observation that "it doesn't seem to be burning any oil" -- oft heard from dealers. Maybe $38-45k depending on the above.

Hi gents (and maybe ladies so as not to sound sexist). Your comments are great and much appreciated. I'm learning a lot. There are actually several cars I'm researching, so I'm trying to keep my description generic at this point. As to color, rather than saying 'uncommon' I should have said 'not guards red, black, or GP white'. So maybe we can assume the exterior is a metallic and the interior isn't black but a complementary color to the exterior. All the gauges including the clock work. The a/c works but has not been upgraded. There is no log of oil consumption, but there's little to no smoke at start up. Leak down is 5-6% across all six.
It's spent most of its life in a dry climate or it has been examined and has no rust. Three owners. No title or odometer discrepancies. Books, tools and spare are included. I hope this scenario will be more helpful. I'll definitely share more specifics as my list of possibilities gets smaller. Thank you again! Steve |

If you have super special color. Viper green, continental orange... Could bring primium.
Personally. I will pay a little extra for non sunroof car too. Good luck with your search.

I guess I missed the significance of the "hypothetically" in your first post.
Now I get it. Assume you are shopping for a $40-45k car. Whether you pay more or less probably depends on your patience, willingness to compromise, and/or risk tolerance. Since you are talking about hypotheticals, some things that add value to a car may have less relevance to you. A car with a day 1 service record is going to bring a premium because many buyers value it -- but frankly, it matters little to how good a car it is now. A solid maintenance record going back 5-10 years that shows replacement of wear & age-related parts is more important than what the original owner did to the car 30 years ago. A car like that s easier to find, and therefore a bit cheaper.

"Hypothetically" sounds like it could be Espresso Brown Metallic with Mahogany interior which we used to "Generically" call Dog **** Brown with Puke interior.
