Yes, we are all lusting after GT4's. I for one don't need to be the first on the block to be seen driving this beast, therefore I will wait until the seller premiums settle down before I consider it.

These cars look amazing, i'd love to have on on order!

Is the one listed for sale above asking much of a premium over MSRP?

Very likely. That car was probably around $110k. Guys have been asking anywhere from $10-25k over MSRP trying to cash in. Guys on RL and Ebay have even been selling build spots. It's ridiculous.

I'm really looking forward to driving one in a couple months. I'm going to be involved in an all GT4 track event near the end of the year.

What I'm very excited about is the GT4R. That's what they are calling the Cayman baby Cup Car that is coming out in Dec. That car is going to be so freaking mean!

Nope. The RL guys all want one but AP has said no. There will be another run of gt4 next year with a pdk option.

The GT4R will be a very limited production racecar. Only 1-2 dozen sold in the States. Teams are starting to get the call for commitment. It will run imsa Conti GS, PWC gts and a yet to be named series. Around $150+ spares and a 6-8 race commitment.

Wow that GT4r sounds so cool!

I had heard that the GT4 could be turbo charged next year making this 2015 model rare. Is this still the case or old news and its confirmed to be NA again next year?

All standard model Porsches will be turbo next year. But the GT3 won't be. I personally don't think the GT4 will be either but the internet fear mongers are pushing that idea. I think it is speculator driven and guys trying to make a profit on this year's car.

With the crazy used GT3 prices these days, the GT4 looked like a nice alternative to the GT3, so I replaced the used GT3 with a new GT4 as a have to have "bucket list" car - but wait, they're limited production and sold out instantly, and it seems like many buyers are flipping them on the used marked at silly premiums like used GT3's...

What's a guy to do?? I think RUF can convert a new GT3 to a real 6 speed, that might be worth considering on a used PDK only GT3. I have to have a real manual, I just want an enjoyable driver.

My other thought is to dump all that money into an expensive backdate (Singer-esque) of my old 911SC and forget all this new stuff! I have a lightly modded e46 M3 for longer trips where comfort is more important.

People that pay over MSRP are just crazy. They are going to continue producing the GT4. Its not a limited produced car like the RS

Only the 991 gt3 is pdk. What's wrong with a 996 Or 997.1? Only the RS models and .2 are stupid money.

It is limited production. And I remember an interview with the head of the GT unit at Porsche who said that they purposely make fewer than they could sell, they have a goal is that not everybody who wants a GTx car, can buy one.

It goes beyond trying to keep it exclusive. The GT division has limited production capacity. They really truly can only make so many of them.

Sounds like Porsche has caught the Ferrari bug. Create demand by limiting supply.

Hey Matt,

Have you double checked the prices on used GT3's these days?? I probably couldn't do a 996 for the looks, but even 996's and 997.1's are bringing wacky prices these days!

Autotrader had a few, but the nice ones were $105k to $110k, with many 997.2's at $120k and up. The cheapest 996 was $65k and it had over 80k miles. A decent looking 996 was $79k, and even 997.1's with some miles on them were pushing $100k...

I have been saving for a used GT3, but I'm a few years out from buying. I don't think I will be able to keep up with the market trends! When the GT4 came out I was very interested, but they are trading at the inflated hot market value (maybe a pending stock crash will turn things right side up?). I really think if they put a proper manual box in the current GT3 it would help with all the nonsense in the used car market. I think most people who don't track their cars prefer the involvement of a true manual transmission...

This. Plus, most of them have been tracked to within an inch of their life. 1 mile on a GT3 is like 10 miles on a normal car.

I guess it's a question of your definition of silly money. To me, when a GT4 is $110-125k, depending on spec, then any GT3 under $100k is not silly money. To me silly money is the $150-200k GT2s and 3rses for $125k or more.

There is a black .1 on RL with 10k mi for exactly $100. A white one lasted less than 5 hours earlier this week for around 75k with average miles. Neither are track cars. Many are but not all.

If you let 6s in the mix then $75k will get you a nice car.

I'm curious, Why do you want to sell so soon? Is it not the car you imagined it would be?
