Panamera holding their value
I know they are stupid expensive to get them off the dealer lot, but I've been watching them for a while now (with hopes of buying) and they are really holding their base value.
I would never pay the original price for a 4 door grocery getter, but I would love a 2010-2011 4S or Turbo they just aren't dropping enough; I guess because of the badge on the hood. If it wasn't for US exchange I would be bringing them up to Canada from the states as the prices are $20-30K difference, but that about sums up the exchange right now. All I can hope is in the new year they drop another $10k then I'm in; or I win the lotto and go full Turbo S

Love the enthusiasm, hate that car. I was strolling the local P-car lot on Sunday and there were no fewer than 10 on the lot. I guess I just don't get it.

Well, I guess somebody has got to like em. It's hard to imagine them not dropping another 10K, or 20K, or 30K, or hell, just take it.

I guess many people do like these cars. I guess they sell or the Mothership would not produce - I see lots on the road.

Maybe it's just where I'm located. I've only seen one on the road ever. It came down out of Seattle on I-5. Coincidentally, on MSN they recently put out the "50 ugliest cars of all time". One guess as to which Porsche was on the list.

Wow surprising responses,
Although the looks aren't the best (I thought the same as the Cayenne until I owned a turbo), I can appreciate having a functional utility vehicle that drives and performs as a sports car; look at the alternatives.... I wish they would have built the grand turismo, but it is what it is.

Actually Bob, I completely agree on the functionality part. With the 4 doors and the obvious additional space in the rear seating area, it probably has more functionality that most other Porsche models. Unfortunately, it all came at the expense of looks. And, I should probably add, that my views that drive my opinons are most likely a bit different than most on here. I still have the view of give me air cooling or give me death. I just can't get excited about the water pumpers. I feel that Porsche has lost it's way with the models they're producing. I also feel that I'm not alone which is why all the air cooled models are escalating in price.

Fair enough
![]() I don't disagree, it's like the designers got 3/4 of the way through the car and gave up. And as a former 79 SC owner I thought that was the pinnicle but wanted modern, safety so went to a Cayman. I love them both but for different reasons. I want a Panamera for my my family, I have the Cayman for me, but when I am driving them around, I want fun.. We spend 3 years of our lives driving, I simply want to enjoy it all.......

I would love one. I would always back it in the garage because the rear 3/4 of the car is hideous.....Porsche could have learned from some of the 4 door Ferraris on working the design if the rear of the car....

I don't want to commit blasphemy, but I'd take a series 6 Gran Coupe or Merc CLS over the panamerica any time...

It is the perfect car for the young rich family. Very fast and seats four!!! Here in Southern Cal they are all over the place. Also, I just read an article on the new car coming out and it is very much re done. The back will have the same look as the new Cayman or 911. Really cleaned up. Google the pictures, you just may like it. Dad finally gets his super sportscar and family car at the same time.

I guess in a sense Porsche was following a tradition of theirs. You either love the car or you hate it, there was no in between. The 914 was that way and the 928 was also that way. With the Panamera's back end it kind of seems like Porsche was emulating the 928 just a bit.

Many a 928 had 100 more HP than a 3.2 of their time. Made our cars seem like a 67 Bug! Panamera is the same.

The Audi was not in the same league, but the 6 Gran Coupe and the Panamera compared well. Of the lot, I honestly liked the way the Panamera drove the best. I felt it had an overall better feel, adequate power, and a certain "presence" that the others lacked. I think Porsche made a nice attempt at their first 4 door sedan. It's funny, the back never bothered me too much - not as much as the Boxster/GT-1 front end of the 996, but opinions vary greatly on style. I guess I felt the rear was distinct and functional. I also thought their resale would tank (like the Cayenne), but that has not been the case. I guess I'll look for a used manual Cayenne GTS... |

The car looks great from the drivers seat.
Drive a turbo and you won't be able to say Marcedes or Bmw ever again. It's a great car albeit a tad Buttugly

I think it's a pretty cool car, and an acquired taste. I certainly don't have the scratch to pay that kind of money for a family car, but it would be on the list if I won the lottery. That and the fact that it's a 4 seater instead of 5 keeps my want at bay.
