1976 911 targa with DP slant kit

I have been looking for a project 911 and came across this. What does this kit do to the value of the car? In my mind it hurts it but I'm by no means an expert. I thought if I'm looking to cut into a 911 this might be a candidate since its so far from original. Interior is not good. Engine is cArbed and needs rebuilt. What would this one be worth?

1) Up until now, the '74 through '77 911s were the least desirable years.

2) A body mod on any of these cars is not uncommon. It's common. So common that a body kit and/or mod is pretty much a stock item on these years.

3) Up until now the body kit probably added value to a lowly '76. Now it isn't good.

4) I wouldn't value it any more than $8K to $12K depending. Engine rebuild will be largest hurdle. Interior is no longer inexpensive to do right. Only years ago this would be a $6000 car.

5) Returning it back to stock body work is gonna take time, $$$, and more $$$. The body parts used to be inexpensive....

6) At least it's galvanized. You got that going for you which is nice.

7) and oh, it's a Targa which is gonna be a hard sell for some people. Some people like them - me included.

8) Carbs may be worth something. It probably isn't the original motor anyway. Who knows? It may have a desirable motor instead of a stock 2.7 CIS which is the least desirable.

And yes, photos in the market place discussion are more important than even the question. So without photos it's a stab in the dark at the very very best.

CountD has it about right. I paid low 5 figures for my slopenose 74 and the same amount again on top of that to return it to IB configuration and paint it original color.

Went and looked at the car. Was in pretty bad shape- felt sorry for her. And he wants $13k for it. I passed.

The other alternative would be to leave the slantnose kit on and turn it into a coupe! XD

That would be cool as long as a Turbo engine was put into it, otherwise that bisch would be destined for the "Boss Sheeper" thread!
