At least he had the foresight to protect the engine from getting water and etc through the carbs.

There's a rusty 69 S coupe on Bringatrailer right now.
I estimated restoration at $90K plus.
Parts value around $14K.
Somebody has already bid it over $15K with days to go.

That’s a good one Bill; did you see Wayne’s input?

It seems lately these really rough (but all there ) cars are not generating the same craziness….

This might be worth watching. (I know it’s not strictly a 911 long hood).
Not sure but I think that’s a 2.7 in there, but I’m sure someone more knowledgeable than me will soon speak up. They claim it to be an early 70s 911 engine. Wonder what the box will be?
Could be a way to a cheap engine and a new pond for the garden!

I was thinking it could be reskinned as a 904.

Front suspension looks pretty janky--and best not hit anything.

I’m really conflicted by this:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/224620620105?hash=item344c6ea949:g:LXYAAOSwyKphTMD 2

One part of me says, cheap shell to return to hotrod long hood but something else says leave it as it is, drop an engine in it and paint some weathered martini graphics on it. Then, to coin an 80s phrase, drive it like you stole it.

I really like the fact that slant noses aren’t fashionable at the moment. Kind of antihero. Which to me, makes them kinda cool. Especially ex-race car - don’t worry about the odd door ding.

Edit: scrap that. It’s a formerly ‘ringed’ car. Looks like an 80s shell and the description says so too.

^ There's nothing whatsoever that ID's this car as a '73. No way is it "rebodied," it's just a G model, end of story.

Another winner from BHCC.

I came really close to buying a car like that about ten years ago. It presented as an 86 Carrera, but had a 68S vin.

I poured all over the photos and it looked like an immaculately done “conversion” to all the 1986 parts, and I initially thought I could strip it all and build myself a 68S hot rod.

Then I requested just a couple more shots of the trunk area. It had been clipped. It was only 68 from the strut towers forward. It was a really good job, with factory welds drilled out and then redone with the clip. Someone put a lot of time and effort into saving that 3.2 Carrera.

A guy eventually bought it, and was showing it off on early S. They broke his heart.

So how does that work, they have a paper title that doesn't actually correspond with any numbers on the shell? I wonder if it has VIN number on the driver's A pillar still? Seems like they shouldn't be able to legally sell this as what they're representing? Kinda like Adam saying he has plenty of 356 titles and VIN plates, but he won't sell them as cars.
