I rarely drive the Cab with the top up -- only if it is cold at night, or I get caught in the rain.
If it is over 50 degrees, the top is down for certain.

My sunroof is always open and when I had my targa it was always off. I never had my targa top on . It set in my garage unfolded.

Before I sold the 911S Targa I always had the top off. I'm looking for a roadster now and it will be top down or in the garage. The 914 was a different story, that was a track day toy and I don't think I had the top off once in five years.

If its not raining and the temp is above say 40-50 degrees, the top is down on the 95 993 cab.

If it's not raining and warmer than 45 or so, the top is off on my Targa. Well, a few times I've left the top on when it was cold just because I wanted to be toasty. I stopped driving my Fiat Spider about a year and a half ago, but up to that point I might - *might* have driven it once with the top up in the previous decade. If it weren't for the roof rack that makes it loud as hell, I would have the sunroof on my Honda open any time it was above about 50 and not raining. When I was an engineer at Chrysler I drove a lot of different cars and would occasionally take a convertible home in the winter, and on those days I was that guy driving with the top down and windows and windblocker up in the middle of January.

Only time my top travels with me is when I need to lock the car overnight, or some such. Never use it otherwise.

The only time the top is on is if its below 45 degrees. Typically I take the top off in April and store it in the basement till October.

Since 2009, I put my roof up 5 times.
Drive from April to December, in sub freezing temp I put all the heat to the feet. I may do the Speedster Top conversion so to top will have to go...

I think there are open car people, there are coupe people and there people who aren't sure. The ones you see that never take the top off are the ones who aren't sure, bought their first cabrio and have discovered that they aren't open car people.

I have to agree with most people here, top goes down boot goes on and that's the way I drive my 88 cab. I even wash the car with the top down, I do store it long term with the top up however.

Ok I'm the odd ball here. I love my targa I've got 2 tops for it one summer one winter. Summer top gets folded stored in back seat. It's off most of the summer but if it gets to hot it goes on and the ac goes on. When I put it away top always goes back on. Winter top is on for the winter I like heat. Its in great shape rarely ever folded and doesn't come off till april.

This is interesting as I always figured sunroofs rarely got opened in any car. I know several people who have sunroofs in their daily drivers (regular cars, not Porsches) who have NEVER ONCE opened them. I only open the sunroof in the 911 to keep it working/move the lubricant around, then pretty much immediately close it.
Like someone else here stated, there are open car people and there are closed car people...

I live in CT with a Targa, the top does not leave the basement...
I've had bikes and treat the car as such. No heat, no roof, November Cars and Coffee...no problem. Man up, put on a warm hat and gloves and absorb the experience... Same goes for the summer. Too hot? Get out or I'll go faster... I did purposefully drive it with the top on twice, in 5 years. Once when driving in heavy snow and the other time when I wanted to see how well Nitto NT01's held traction in very hard rain....

SauCy to each his own. If it makes you feel like a man go for it. Me I got nothing to prove I like the heat and my ac works. My targa does it all...I think that's what they were designed for

I must be an oddball coupe driver, as I rarely open the sunroof. I've never really been a fan of sunroofs, they don't really give airflow, just noise!
In the MG, I never drive with the top up, but store it up to keep the fabric stretched.
