You've got to pay for the real search. In most instances they can provide both the orginal engine and gearbox number. They don't promise it will be known but they usually have the numbers on file. You just have to pay them to find out.

If you join the Porsche Club of America they charge you ten dollars less for the same thing.

But you need to have a Porsche in order to join so it's a bit of a chicken and egg. I don't think you qualify for the discount as a quest member.
