911 project price?

Hey fellow pelicans, looking at this 84 911 project and was wanting a little feedback on the price point etc. Anything specific I should be looking for besides engine history

Guy seems to be upfront and honest about it. I would say he's pretty much right on with the pricing. If you took the whole kit and caboodle he'd probably take a bit less - not much - so he wouldn't have to deal with clowns buying it piecemeal.

Euro means nothing these years. So if it's rust free and you have the dough then it would be OK. I wouldn't want that motor though. I'd buy the roller and trans and find a 3.2 to put back in (that is after I did ALL the fuel lines, even tunnel).

CountD, any reason you would use the 3.6?

Looks like a lot of work and money before you have a running and driving car again. If you like to wrench that's great, but I don't think you'll be that far ahead of buying a car that's ready to enjoy today.

It would make a great hot rod, The price is fair. BUT it needs one buttload of sweat and money
It depends on what you want. If you want to drive you'd be way ahead spending 10k more on a nice car. If you want a project/moneypit go for it

Where do you think most of the money would be going towards?

My last 964 engine had multiple exhaust side head studs broken. One of them broke at the face of the case half. Besides, with the fire, you never know what bad stuff you will find.

The pictures bring up bad memories of my last 964... I unsuccessfully tried to start the car one morning, then went off to an appointment. When I returned, the car was on fire in the garage under my house. I suspect the oil residue in the intakes lit up. That car was under a wicked spell.

So my negative response here is due to seeing the C/L add pictures of the results of his fire.

Wow sorry to hear that. That's one horror story. I've always been quite fond of the 964 engines, a fee friends of mine have 964s and I absolutely love them

Paint job and replacement parts before assembly (engine maintenance, wiring harness and fuel system).

If you really do enjoy wrenching, here's what could be a decent starting point:
