914/6 3.6 conversion

Porsche 914 Full Rebuild | eBay

Very good condition 914 with a 3.6. From the ad it sounds like the shop knew what they were doing. What's it worth (ie resale today)? I know what original 6s in this condition would sell for, but not a conversion. The 3.6 is pretty interesting in terms of performance, of course, but it's hardly period correct. I think the add-on AC brings the value down, and there appears to be no heat, for what it's worth. Also, what hidden demons (besides rust) to look for?

I saw this car last weekend, and while I'm not a 914 expert, it looked really nice. A lot of money was spent on the conversion. If you are interested, call and talk to Jason. He is pretty knowledgeable.

Our PCA region went for a tour of the showroom. Everything I saw in there was top shelf.

Nice looking car but I wouldn't want that 3.6 against the skinny little 901 gears in that 914 gearbox, bearing plate or not. Needs a proper 916 conversion and then it's good to go.

That car started life as a 914-4. There were no 914/6 cars produced in 1973.
Has to be a blast to drive. Hopefully they converted a g-50 to mate with that much power.
I had previously stated that those were Pedrini wheels. Those are actually 5 lug mahle gasburners.

They often have some very nice looking cars. I don't know them, I have never done business with them, but...

gear.... agreed they are indeed gasburners, I have a pristine set in my basement. They've been in the family since the 70's. I can't even remember the last time they were actually used. My pop saved em for something until I took them.

And worth $4-5k.

If anyone is actually in the market for a car like this, Eric Shea at PMB is brokering a similar car for a client. $35k.

I'm not sure how much PMB dud and how much was done elsewhere. However I'm sure if you reach out Eric can tell you everything. Car was built for auto-x and now the owner is scared the gearbox won't hold against the 3.6. If it is launched hard he's probably right.
